Question about Brother DCP 7010 Multifunction Laser Copier

1 Answer

My copier/printer lists the LCD alert 'back cover open'

I have a Brother DCP 7010 which is about 1.5 years old. A message has appeared in the LCD display stating 'back cover open'. I have removed the toner, paper feed and the underside metal cover directly below the rollers. I have opened the rear and front covers. I can find, using a torch no trace of any paper residuals or indeed any other blockages.
I have turned the machine off for about 5-10 mins and then attempted to copy/print again. The message continues to be displayed, stopping the machine from functioning. HELP!!!

"back cover" can be connected to more than one cover. If there is a door in the back it may also be connected to the Side cover.
What you need to check is the switches/sensors to see if maybe they are not sitting correctly in place.
Open the doors and look for a protruding piece of plastic on the door, this corresponds to a hole in the machine that has a sensor or switch behind it, is it pushing the switch all the way ? (may need to be adjusted). Is there a sensor? is it loose?

Hi Raj, please describe the error details( paper jam, color lights, blinking, solid, toner is original /refilled ? Recently changed-opened the fuser or the drum ?

To reset the drum error for a Brother DCP 7010 printer:
Turn the printer on and leave it like that.
Open the front panel.
You should see on the screen a message : drum change. Press "yes".
After that, the LED that was flashing near the drum will stop alerting.

Hiya my brother dcp 7010 printer keeps saying back cover open please shut cover but there is no cover open how can i fix it pls

This is happening because there is a paperjam in the machine and its covering the sensor for the back cover. Open the front cover of the machine and remove the drum and toner, then you can remove the paperjam.

Brother Model DCP-340CW - Unable to clean

When trying to use your Brother machine you get the message "Unable to _____". The blank may be the word Change, Print, Scan or Clean and these words may vary from model to model.
This message is a general message and will appear for different reasons. It often indicates a paper jam or a mechanical issue. Complete the following to determine the possible issue.

  1. Check for foreign objects, such as a clip or ripped paper, inside the machine.
Open the scanner cover by pulling up on the lower right corner of the cover. Look inside the machine and remove any foreign objects. If you see jammed paper or another item inside this area, gently pull it out and then close the scanner cover securely.
  1. If the error continues to appear, the machine may have a mechanical problem.
If the error message continues to appear, the machine will need to be reset. Disconnect the machine from the power source for several minutes then reconnect it.
If the message continues to appear on the LCD, please contact Brother Customer Service.

DCP 7010

Thesame problem occurs on my machine while copying. I always turn on and off the machine since i already removed the paper jammed inside. Until I thought of removing the toner cartridge and found out that there were still 2 coupon bounds inside it that can not be seen if the cartridge is still intact. After slowly removing it the LCD screen was back to normal!
