Your IP address is given by a DHCP server. This could be your router or your ISP. If you have a router the easy way to reset it is to turn the power off for 30 seconds and then power it back on. If you don't have a router, disconnect the phone line for 2 minutes.
You may need to reboot your PS3.
There are more things to try. e.g. giving your machine a fixed IP address (via control panel and networks) This works best if you have a router. If you need more help get back to me

My ps3 keeps saying it can't obtain my ip address. Why is that? and how do i solve this problem

this is because when you hook up a internet cable to the ps3. its searchign for a connection.
You may be behind a firewall or router. you probably need your router password put in if you are indeed using a router. Otherwise if your not hooked up to the internet you have no need to go to "Network" in the consoles homepage.

IP address is your personal connection address on the internet. Assigned by the company you rent it from for you Home internet connection.

Hope this helps.

I hear Resistance 2 for ps3 is gonna be amazing Have Fun!

I have a zyxel p66ohw router connected to my pc via an ethernet card, everything is fine untill my son logs on with his playstation 3, or my wife logs on with her laptop then i cant connect everytime i try...

Make sure that your TCP/IP properties are set to "Obtain an IP address automatically". If you still cannot connect after you change that, and after waiting for a couple of minutes, then open a command prompt and type "IPCONFIG". Make a note of the address at "Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :" That's the address you need to go to to access the modem's settings..You'll need an ID and password. These would be in the modem's manual.
---to find tcp/ip properties---
It depends from PC to PC, but, try this:
Start (Bottom left of your screen)
Settings
Network Connections
Local Area Connection
Properties
Internet Protocol TCP/IP
Properties

That's how it is on my PC.

2 computers can not get on line ever since another computer in the house was connected. Everytime I press the icon for internet explorer it pops up this page can not be displayed at this time. I was told...

the reason why you are experiencing this everytime both computers were powered on and tried to use an internet at a time is that you have a conflict IP ADDRESS. you may notice this opening the local area connection right click then click status(both computer) see if they have the same ip address. if that is the case you need to configue the lancard settings

You are probably infected with spyware. Download SPYBOT, update it, and then run it in SAFE MODE.
