Question about Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital Camera
This is considered a common problem among the PowerShot cameras and there are many threads here at FixYa on the topic - the one with the best troubleshooting and links to more help is here -
I have done a bit with my own and found that a little gentle shimmying and pressure to the ring around the lens while turning it one and off worked. However, you do not want to muscle it too much - it is a plastic casing and works with a complicated series of gears and mechanics that can be easily damaged if knocked or shifted too much. (That's probably how the problem occurred to begin with, right? )
I did not twist or turn the ring so much as held on to both portions of the 'retractor' and swayed them around in a circular motion within the main bodies ring- kind of like stirring a spoon in a bowl motion - at the case. Turned it on and off a few times while doing this and it seemed to get it back on track. Light click - then on and off a few times - now seems all good. (knock on wood)
I hope this helps! The only other fixes seem to be fairly evasive or costly. : (

Hi, I have just done as RachelR recommended and it works! I opened the camera and started to touch around the lens meanwhile I started the camera. Thanks a lot, (and sorry for my english) My camera is a Canon A550. Good luck.
