Hi, i have an acer aspire 4755g. when i power it on, it gets stuck in the windows logo and doesn't move on to the welcome page unless press the ENTER key. I tried looking at the bios for the prima

The boot sequence has nothing to do with how this acts.

The boot sequence tells your computer what to boot from.

Here's an example of a boot order list.

1. Hard Drive
2. Optical Drive
3. USB Drive
4. Floppy Drive

If it can't detect an OS on the first one it goes to the next one on the list until it finds something that can boot.

You should try to update your computer, possibly clean it up. It could contain some sort of malware on it.

If it's an option, you should just do a reformat and that should fix all your problems up. If that doesn't fix your issues then you're going to need to get some new hardware aka bring it into a shop or buy a new laptop.

I hope this helps.

I cant reformat my ibm pentium 4 where can i find the advance bios i press all the functions but icant see the advance bios

Try the below steps and I hope it'll work for you.

1) Shut down the operating system and turn off your computer.
2) Press and hold down the F1 key, and then turn on the computer.
3) When an IBM or other logo is displayed or if you hear repeating beeps, release the F1 key. The IBM BIOS Setup Utility will start.
4) Select "Start Options" from the first menu.
5) From the Start Options menu, press <Enter> on the top bullet labeled "Startup Sequence" (it is above all the other options). This brings up a new "Startup Sequence" menu.
6) Change boot order as needed using arrow keys.

My acer laptop turns on, then tells me to contact the systems administrator. If I try to continue it shuts down. at one time I recall reading that the files have been currupied. is there anything I can...

It sounds like the Windows boot files have become corrupted. That could happen for several reasons, but if you're willing to just reformat/reload the operating system, we're only concerned with one of those reasons.

There are some viruses that can corrupt boot files. If that's what happened, then reformatting/reloading the OS will take care of it.

On the other hand, it could be that your hard drive may be failing. When you reformat/reload, the Windows system will tell you if it finds errors on the drive.

The following is from the Acer manual for your machine as to how to access the BIOS and enable a hard disk recovery:

To activate the BIOS utility, press during the POST; while the notebook PC
logo is being displayed.

Boot sequence

To set the boot sequence in the BIOS utility, activate the BIOS utility, then select
Boot from the categories listed at the top of the screen. [You should set the CD/DVD drive to be the first boot device, in case you need to reload from a DVD]

Enable disk-to-disk recovery

To enable disk-to-disk recovery (hard disk recovery), activate the BIOS utility,
then select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen. Find D2D
Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use the and keys to set this
value to Enabled.

[End of manual quote]

If you're not able to restore from the hidden partition on the hard drive, which may happen if the drive is damaged, then you'll have to try to restore using a Windows DVD.

Hope that's helpful.

Hi, try the following sequence.Insert your XP disk and reboot, during bootup press your ESC button or Del on some PCs, you will be in BIOS, from here you can change you primary boot drive, select CD rom, save changes and reboot. Press return when request to boot from CD appears, wait for the sequence to finish installing, select the section of the drive you wish to change, select delete, confirm and then reformat your hard drive. PC will reboot afterwards and start installing XP. Be aware this will remove everything from your hard drive, so back up first. Hope this helps
