Missing serial connection for GPS301

I have a GPS301 but it is missing the serial connection for downloading and I haven't been able to find one anywhere in N.Z. or Aust. so far. Can you help, or alternatvely would it be possible to give me a wiring schesmatic to connect the serial connection to the stereo plug or alternatvely can it be done from a USB plug to a stereo plug or wiring diagram so I can download relevent information. Regards Kris Gibson.

Taken me awhile to get back re my GPS301. Got no USB connection, no wiring schematic. Got manual, and sent E-mail to Uniden aust, which have the connection, but do not send to N.Z., although I was prepared to pay any extra cost for delivery. I will try Uniden N.Z., but don't expect much luck, regards krisone.

My computer does not reconize unit

To troubleshoot a connectivity issue please try the following:

  1. Ensure the cable is secure on the device and computer. Disconnect and reconnect the device.
  2. If still not connecting and the cable is secure press the rest on the back of the device while connected to the computer.
  3. If a reset does not work then disconnect the device from the computer, wait at least 10 seconds and try another USB port on the computer.
  4. If another USB port does not resolve the issue disconnect the device, restart your computer, then connect the device.
  5. If all the above fails you can Reinstall the Device Driver. Navigate to the Device Manager on your computer. Please note this will vary based on the operating system you are using. Once at the Device Manager screen locate Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Click the arrow/triangle to the left of the Universal Serial Bus Controllers to expand the drop down list. If the device driver is the issue one of the items listed will say Unknown Device. Right click on Unknown Device and select uninstall. Once the uninstall has been completed, restart your computer with the device still connected.

How do I change languages on a tom/tom gps device

Hello
Get into its menu, come to 'Manage Maps' window. There you can see 'Change Language' option, with an emblem showing three country flags. Tap on this emblem, and select the language.
For more details go to page [35] of its user manual. If you haven't the user manual with you now, inform me your Email address by FixYa comment box. I've the downloaded manual to your GPS, and I'll send a copy of it to you by return mail. I can't send it to you by this window,as this window does not allow me to uplaod PDF files by it. OK.

Is there free updates for the Nuvi 750? If so How do you do it?

Garmin gives you 60 days from the purchase date to get one free update for your map. They supply you with a USB cable that you will need to connect to your GPS and a computer. Go to the Garmin website and choose Support / Update Map. The website will automatically read your model and serial number and then let you know if your need and are eligible for their latest update. The file will be downloaded to your computer. The same webpage will describe the steps necessary to run the update to your GPS.

When I insert the DVD is does not give me any instructions to follow. I am connected to the internet. I am never prompted to give my unique serial number or anything else. I have downloaded something off...

I think the issue is your pc is not detecting a new disk in the drive. hence, it is not trying to run the Auto run for the DVD.

Just try right clicking on the dvd drive from explorer and see any option that will indicate 'Autorun' and click on it.

If not just check what it shows on the root directory of the DVD and see if there is any file that reads Autorun or start or something similar, then double click on it to get started yourself.

The device may be missing letters or have jumbled letters or displaying duplicate letters or strange symbols on the address screen. To correct this you will need to update the system software of your nuvi. You can easily do this by using Garmin's WebUpdater program:
  1. Click the following link to download the WebUpdater program: http://www.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp
  2. Follow the on screen prompts from the website
  3. Choose RUN/OPEN
  4. Follow the on screen prompts
After the program has been installed it should run automatically. If it does not please use the steps below.
To run WebUpdater:
  1. From the Start menu, click All Programs and find the Garmin folder
  2. Click WebUpdater
  3. Connect your nuvi to an available USB port on your computer
  4. To search for an available update, choose NEXT
  5. As the program automatically finds updates, choose NEXT to load the update. Once the update is complete, you can search for other updates such as voice languages, Bluetooth, and Traffic Receiver.
  6. Disconnect the unit to ensure it powers on.
Take your unit outdoors and keep it in a stationary position with an open sky view until it reacquires satellites.

SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING!! on display - the maps just needed update - now the 'missing system software' is displayed ,, I thought it was the map updates needed to be updateed so I went to the Garmin website...

I had the same problem with my nuvi 200. I contacted Garmin via phone (toll-free number) and the tech was very helpful. He said that this happened when I was updating because the program was interrupted while the update was in process. The problem is because I needed the USB drivers for updating--don't know how they got deleted but once he sent me an email with the instructions and attached zip file to reinstall the drivers and reset machine, everything is good to go again.
