Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Canon MP600, won't transfer scanned image

It used to work
now it begins to transfer the scanned image then it freezes up and the computer freezes up
I can't even end the program and have had to restart.
I've looked for driver updates, downloaded ver 3 update didn't seem to have anything to do with my problem but thought it worth a try...

uninstalled and reinstalled the software.

I have lots of memory 1.25 GB, used to be enough anyway....
Regular cleaning done on regular basis, are you talking about something more?
I will reduce the number of times in the start up, a couple new programs, maybe added about the time of the problem.... will do that and give it a try

I tried removing all non essential software from start up, I unplugged the cable to the ipod (a new addition) and have scanned right after start up, it still doesn't transfer and locks the computer up (it does act like it is out of memory doesn't it).
I noticed it has more trouble with it when it wants to crop the scan, when I set it for "letter" it worked for a while then developed the same problem.
I didn't remove from start up... my anti virus, but I closed them down before trying the scan.

I have the same problem with Canon all in one MX700. It scans two pictures without a problem. As soon as I scan more than two, it scans them, tells me how many it scanned and then freezes up when it tries to display them individually. A ctrl alt del kills the software, but I have to reboot in order to use the scanner again, as I get a scanner busy message.

You all have good answers but there all wrong. A little thought is the PRINTER it's self.

Guest, no, I'm still using that printer. I never had notification of responses... pity is I don't remember how I resolved the problem. I took the printer to a friends house and tried it on their computer, worked fine.

Wendynailart,

Your PC is freezing up for a number of possable reasons. The first and most obviouse to me is that you have simply run out of available memory to process the scanned image to a form that can be read on the computer screen. This memory is the ram in your pc and you might find that with windows and all the other applications you have running, your pc simply does not have the power to do everything.
The second reason is the number of programs you have running in your start up. You can easily remove all or some and re activate all or some. Find the "run" prompt in your start menu and type in "msconfig" You will open a screen and the last tab will be the start up tab. you can remove all or some and you can go in and out of this as many times as you like until your get only the programs you need to run on start up, such as your antivirus and internet connection. This will take some time until you get it right and if you are at all unsure, take the pc to a pro to reconfigure it.

The first thing I would suggest, and the easiest, is to pop down to your local PC store and get them to put a little more memory in you PC. If this fails to fix the problem, than you will no doubt need to have our PC cleaned up. This can be an expensive excersize, however if you value you data, it is well worth the cost to get a professional to do it for you.

I would sasy from your comment, that the programs that you installed when this problem arose is the cause of your problem. there is no need to uninstall them, just remove them from the start up so that they are not running all the time and bottling up your pc. they will run when you manually activate them which for most users is really the only time they want to use them anyway.

It is sounding more and more like you have a real problem with your operating system. What kind of antivirus are you running? You may need to do a windows restore or reload. This may well be a symptom of a much deeper and darker problem and one that may need some professional assistance. If you are running windows xp, you can try to restore the system to an earlier time through windows restore. If you don't know how to do this, let me know and I will see if I can assist.

Our Canon Prixma MP600 cannt scan to our Windows 7 desktop. Have any ideas why not?

Do you have that icon on your desktop canon mp navigator. Usually by opening that up and clicking scan everything runs properly. One idea maybe not the best is to uninstall and reinstall the printer software. Another is to try scanning (if your model can) from both the printer and the computer by using canons software on the computer.

Those are just a couple of ideas.

I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro, replacing my P.C. I can print but can't scan and send documents. I like my MP600 and would like to be able to use it in this way. I have the computer connected...

Hi
Did you install the Canon Software onto the Macbook?
Try this
Open your applications folder and locate an app called "Image Capture"
Open it. It may say that there is no image capture device connected, but it gives you a browse button. Click on it and wait a moment (make sure that the printer is powered up first of course). With a bit of luck you should suddenly see your printer listed. Give it a click and do OK or whatever it asks and then the scanning softare should start up. It will give you the c hoice of what to do with the scan in the 'scan to' box.
Post back if it works. (it generally does.)

Will not scan to computer

Hi,
The all in one solution software you used in XP doen't work with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie Canon MP600) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

Hope that helps.

Hope this helps

HOW TO SCAN ON HP PSC 1315

If you go to www.hp.com
Do a search on your printer.
Look for an option for drivers and downloads.
Select your printer and windows vista.
You need to find the print, scan, fax drivers. Not just the printer drivers.
The driver download would be like 800 MegaBytes instead of like 2 or 3 MegaBytes.

this should make sure scanner work.. but if it still doesnt work then go back to the device manager and check if there are any hradwares with a yellow question mark beside them.if there is then right click on them and click update driver.
if that does not solve the problem try reinstalling the CD or go to the canon MP00 web page (google it) to dowmload the printer/scanner drivers. and repeat everything until it works or until you give up =). hope it all works out bye!

Canon MP600 scanner error

Hello.
I fixed the same MP600 problem (can't find the scanner or corrupt cable) by clicking Default settings on menu of MP600 device (on its display) and unplugging all USB devices except MP600 and restarting the computer.
