Broken Spring/Shock for my GLEQ642AS0 Fridigaire Dryer

I am trying to find a replacement spring/shock for my dryer but I don't the part number. This spring is the one that is hooking onto the dryer drum to the frame. There are I think 4 on top and 4 on bottom suspending the dryer drum to the frame of the dryer. The spring is about 8 inches long and 3/4" in diameter made of heavy gauge steel. I substituted it with a spring of the same size from Home Depot (not made for dryers) but it only lasted a year. I would rather get an OEM part so that it won't break so quickly. Any idea what the part number is and where to buy one? Thanks in advance.

There are no "suspension shocks/springs" on a dryer, those are usually on your washer. here is hte par number for he washer spring 134144700(which is about 8 inches long and 3/4" in diameter made of heavy gauge steel) youll need (2) and heres the suspension shock absorber number 134564200 its a set of 2, there shold only be 2 on your machine.

Dryer stop working then start shocking you when touch

The first thing you need to do is turn the breaker off to the dryer , that way you don't risk shock trying to unplug it. The next step is to locate where the wire is arcing over, I would start at where the plug comes into the dryer and move on from there. Thats a very dangerous situation, be careful and good luck

Re~attaching spring on Maytag Dryer PYE2300AYW While replacing the belt the spring slipped off and I don't know where to attach it to, one end is on the idler, where does the other end go?

Hi,
If I am not mistaken, your spring called a Idler spring should mount to the motor mount and the other end to the idler arm. But if you do not remove the drum from the dryer it will be hard to see how to re-install the spring. Remove the drum to make your task easier for your self.

Good Luck

Dryer making a knocking noise when dryer is on

The drum insde that rotates, is usually held in place by three or four big springs or rubber shock absorbers so that it can move a little but not too much, and if they have come loose or got old, the drum will have more freedom to move about, especially if all the clothes are at one point in the drum. Sometimes there is an adjuster device which consists of two nuts on a threaded bar that can be unlocked from each other, move along a bit then tightened together again. other types of adjuster exist but are usually more difficult to adjust, and some don't have and adjustment. If the maximum adjustment has been reached or there is no adjustment, you will probably need to change the springs/shock absorbers. please do not proceed to open the unit unless it is outside its guarantee period as doing so whilst still under guarantee may void that guarantee. If it is still under guarantee, phone the seller and describe the situation to them, they have almost certainly had this situation before and should repair or replace it. If you have been washing trainers in it, don't mention that to them ;o)

I heard a loud pop but the belt is not broken there is a spring that I think goes to the pulley just laying on the bottom of the dryer it is a Samsung DV218AEB/XAA where does it go?

If you found the spring it means that you were under the dryer, so if you feel comfortable with DIY projects then look for your manual there will be an "exploded view" of your dryer. You will see where it goes. But I have never seen a spring pop off for no reason. Examine the spring closely and see if there are signs that it may have broken (some rough edges.) If it appears to be whole then try to re-seat the spring; careful as there is quite a bit of tension and, in all likelihood, you will have to do some "major surgery" to get the belt and pulley spring reseated. Take your time and use a phone camera to record your work to make replacement of parts easier.

How do i pull the bottom panel off?

instruction
  • Unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet to prevent accidental shock which could result in death.
  • Locate the two screws on the bottom base of the front of the dryer by tilting the dryer unit slightly up and unscrew the screws on both the right and left side of the dryer, and put the screws to the side. Some units will have spring clips on each the right and left side. Insert a putty knife and press back against the spring clip releasing it from its hole.
  • Pull the bottom panel off and set it to the side.

I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL DUET SPORT DRYER I MOVED IT TO PUT ON NEW DUCT AND NOW THE DRUM IS HITING THE INSIDE OF CABINET HOW DO I FIX THIS?

Check the Vibration damper rods to be sure that...
    1. They are there and mount is solid.
    2. If they are broken in 1/2.
    3. The plastic knuckle mounts are not missing/broken.
    4. There is oil in the shock absorber/spring section of the rods.

Also - there are suspension springs on the bottom of the tub that could be broken and/or missing.

    Replace/repair as necessary.

Dryer does not heat, but does tumble clothes and blows air., what is wrong?

Check the electric heating element. This is a long coil, looks like a long spring. That spring (coil) could be broken. If it is broken, you can just take it and twist the two halves together and put it back in. OR buy a new coil spring.. This is in the bottom of the dryer.

Why does my dryer shock me when I touch it

You have lopse wires at the terminal block.
    Unplug the dryer.
Remove the cover on the rear where the cord connects.
Tighten all the wires and try it again.
If it still shocks, you have a internal ground/neutral wire that is broken.
