Same as diana - push reconciliation button and computer locks up. when you go back in the recon has saved to Quick Books but of course you have no copy. also, when you try to save, program replies data corrupt . You have to restart your computer, go back into Quick Books and then save. All the data is correct......but look at all the trouble you must go to and still have no printed copy of reconciliation. WHY DOESN'T QUICK BOOKS RESPOND TO THIS ISSUE????

In your list of printers, you will have one installed by QB called "QuickBooks PDF Converter". Do your reconcile and when it seems to lock up, open your list of printers from the control panel and open this QB printer. There will be a document waiting to print (not sure why, it might be internal to QB). Select that document and hit the delete key. That should free QB up to continue (works for me). You may need to select it and press Delete two different times to actually remove it from the printer. Finally, because it is not easy to open up Printers every time, make a shortcut on your quick launch or desktop to the Printers applet.

I have the same problem, but noticed it was locking up when trying to transfer jpgs to a flash disk. When I disable my radeon 3800 series driver through Control Panel/Device Manager, everything works fine (except for to lower graphics).

I just attended a 2 day QuickBooks seminar, and asked the instructor this exact question. His response was to back up the company file or files, try uninstalling and re-installing, or checking in the Utilities somehow if you are getting "Corrupt Data" errors.

Reconciling

If you are trying to reconcile to your bank balance, you should not be reviewing the "deposit detail" report.

1) Go to "Banking" then "Reconcile"
2) If the "Opening Balance" is incorrect, then close the "reconcile" window and go to "Reports" then "Banking" then "Bank Reconciliation Discrepancy" report. (This report will reveal what changed after your last successful reconciliation).
3) If the "Opening Balance" is correct, then you want to press "continue" to focus on the bottom of the window, which reveals "total deposits marked as cleared". If you have duplicates, you will see them on the right side of the screen, but the ultimate goal is to have a "Deposits Total" (in QuickBooks) that agrees with the "Deposits Total" (per Bank Statement).

The "Deposit Detail" report is a "Journal Report" to show you details of historical deposit records, Has nothing to do with "reconciling" your current bank balance.

You have to open the file in the premier version. Only the premier version has access to previous reconciliations.

Just a tip

If yours is a PC, Windows Vsita 64 bit should recognize 4 GB RAM. Have you tried the 64 bit bootable linux? Try with that. If you see less than 4GB, then you must check your BIOS for some setting which is the setting to share to the graphics memory or some limit.

Won't work with Vista 64 bit

Hello
I am running Windows Vista 64 bit also and finding out that there are a lot of programs that won't run on a 64 bit machine due to the fact they are not supported for 64 bit, listed below is info to your problem,
Photoshop Elements compatibility with Windows Vista This TechNote lists which versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements are compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista.

Photoshop Elements Version Compatible with Windows Vista (32-bit)? 6.0 Yes 5.0 Yes

Note: You must download the Photoshop Elements 5.0.2 update to ensure compatibility with Windows Vista.
4.0 No 3.0 No 2.0 No 1.0 No
Note: For the versions of Photoshop Elements that are compatible with Windows Vista, the 64-bit editions of Vista are not supported. Adobe Technical Support can assist you with the features of Photoshop Elements and with issues that also occur in supported operating systems. Technical Support cannot, however, assist you with issues that occur only on the 64-bit editions of Windows Vista. Instead, you can use the following support options on the Adobe website:
  • The User to User Forums, on which you can enter your problem or concern to see if another Adobe user can offer advice. Access this resource at www.adobeforums.com.
  • The Support Knowledgebase, which contains solutions for issues that occur on supported operating systems. Access this resource at www.adobe.com/support/photoshopelements.

Are they the same - windows vista 32 bit platform edition and windows vista home basic 32 bit sp1

Yes and no. Think of 'platform' as a general header when looking at operating architectures (there are different types) and Vista choices.
Vista choices under the 'platform' 32-bit are:
• Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit
• Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
• Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
• Windows Vista Business 32-bit
• Windows Vista Enterprise 32-bit

Another example of the "64-bit platform" and Vista choices are:

• Windows Vista Home Basic 64-bit Edition
• Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit Edition
• Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Edition
• Windows Vista Business 64-bit Edition
• Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit Edition

HOW TO UNDO MY LAST BANK RECONCILIATON?

You actually have 2 options
You can edit the Journal Entry to change the amounts.
Or
To unreconcile, you must enter the register for that account, go to the box that has the cleared checkmark, and click on the checkmark until the box is blank. This has to be done on each transaction for the reconcile.
Once that is completed, you can reconcile that month again.
