Question about Hitachi 60FX32B 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

BLOWN RESISTORS Just like to know where I can purchase replacement resistors. The tv is Hitachi Model 60FX32B , the burnt out resistors are RK30,RK31 & RK29. Contacted Hitachi, but had no luck. Hope I can purchase these resistors myself, instead of repairman charging me 300.00 to fix it. No wonder nobody tries to have any electronics repaired anymore. Thank you for your time..

Were the resistors burnt? That means they burnt out because too much current passed through them. Chances are if you just replace them w/o figuring out *why*, the new ones will also burn out. Unless you really understand everything in the aforementioned service manual, your chances of fixing it are slim. I've seen way too many sets that were FUBARed by somebody who thought they knew more than a tech with years of experience.

You can download your schematic that will tell you resistor values and the rest of the circuits and IC indentifications as well as test procedures and more , this is a ten part zip that can be opened with winzip and read with adobe just click here http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/12926/Hitachi_50FX30B.html
then to order resistors you can get them here http://www.nteinc.com/
or look for an electronic parts supply store around you , but alot of the time they too have to order the parts, ecspecially certain valued resistors or other special valued parts
if you need more help just ask !

The screen seems to have two of the same image, green and red.

Yes.
The fix is to replace the two Convergence IC's( STK392-110's) with STK392-150's. They are located to the right side of the chassis and mounted to large heat sinks. Be also on the look out for some burnt resisters and or discolored resistors that failed becuase of the IC's failing. These would be located just to the left of the heat sinks. If they are burnt or severly discolored, you will need to replace them with the exact valued resistors. In this high current circuit it is a must.
I hope this helps,

As stated in your response to another person (Hitachi 43UWX10B)

Your post didn't get attached to the message in which you read the 'fix' for your set so the person who helped, will likely never see it.
You might try re-entering your brand/model info and sort through the results to find the original message.

Yes, You will need to replace the 2 convergence IC's. Hitachi part # CZ01341. Generic part # STK394-160E These are the upgraded replacement parts. Also look for any burnt resistors near these IC's.

Resisters questions

Its best to replace both IC's. As far as the resistors, there are location #'s marked on the board where the resistors are mounted. If any look burnt, get the location numbers off the board, and your model # and email me @ halselectronics@comcast.net. I will get you the resistor values.

Need resistor value for RK62 on DP2X board for 57SWX20B

RK62 is a 2.2ohm 1 watt metal oxide resistor hitachi part number 0700054M any 2.2ohm 1 watt resistor will work although it does have to be metal oxide(flame resistant) for safety purposes.

necessarily brighter.......Next, remove front speaker grill and find
the RGB focus / screen adjust block....turn RGB screen controls
SLIGHTLY clockwise to achieve more brightness....not too much
or you will have retrace lines in background of picture.......Let me know after these steps are done........T.

Hitachi Rear Projection TV Flickers Red

No, this could mean a loose connection on crt board(red of course) Look also and check to see if lines going to board are connected correctly. If nothing, then there could be something trying to short itself out on crt board. look for burnt resistors and bad capacitors.
