More than likely it could be just dirty or you should replace the drive they are easy to replace one can be found at any electronic store or you could try using pricewatch.com to find a cheap one replace the drive. try blasting some air in the drawer also double check to see if your ribbon cable or power cable has come loose

If you have the disk... The drivers will still not install correctly using the usual method. Do this: Go to the system applet and find the yellow flag indicating the device is not installed correctly. Click on it and go to the box that says "Update the drivers". Put the disk in your CD/DVD drive and "kill" the inquiry box that comes up. Now tell device manager to find the drivers on your computer and point it to the CD drive. Click Install and they will install fine. You wont even have to re-boot probably.

I have a Samsung external 3.5 floppy drive, a SFD 321u which has worked fine in my old Win XP computer. I have a new system with Win 7 and this drive will not work with the drivers on the CD and Win 7...

If it is a USB external drive it should be recognized by your laptop, it worked for my dell floppy drive from xp to win 7 64bit, if it does not you should download the winxp driver and use it to install in win 7 when it does not recognizes the drive.

-select have drivers
-select downloaded drivers

it would give you an error of pop up saying drivers are not "signed" just go ahead a accept that and it should work.

Let me know if it helps

this device is plug and play does not need any type of configuration basically you plug the device and the server (PC) would usually recognize it as the "A" unit

Won't read disks

Hey Rorel,

The issue could be either the floppy drive or the disk. If you have another computer with a floppy drive or know someone that does try using the disk on their drive. If the drive cannot read the disk then the disk is bad. If it ok the external floppy drive could be bad. Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Installing floppy drive

hi,is it a IDE cable
(if it is you can buy 1 from local computer shops for a few $ just make shure it is a floppy IDE cable)
the is a special mother board slot for floppy cable plug it in and then plug it into the floppy drive and make the computer reconise it by going into the BIOS
hope this helps :-)
