SOURCE: replaced sand now filter isnt working
if u used play sand, or any other type of sand thats NOT pool filter sand, that could be the problem. also if there is too much sand or too little sand that could also cause this.

The valve should be about $100. We sell it for 90 something. You can rebuild them with gaskets and the spring. There should be a model number on yours, care to post it? Something like SP711, SP714, etc.

Be sure to include the model number off the valve, which should have SP at the beginning.

If it is relatively new you should have a 71113T or 714T valve on top. This manual should answer your question. If not, please comment with how old the filter is.
