Have you tried playing the tape in another device? Adjusting the recording volume if that is an option? Look for the user manual pdf online and also try a brand new or different brand tape to ensure that is not the problem.

My microcassette tape recorder stopped working.

It is possible that the rubber drive belt has broken or the motor is bad. Turn the volume all the way down, hold the unit next to your ear and put it into a function. Listen for motor noise, a slight buzzing noise. If you hear that it is possible the the motor is good and the drive belt is broken.

Won't rewind microcassette recorder

Although this unit may look new, it is over 10 years old. The problem is probably that the rubber belts and drive tire are bad. They can fail even if never used. I would suggest replacing with a newer model.
