Limited or no connectivity is because of the firewall on your computer. To remove that msg :(On windows xp):
start->control panel -> network connections -> 'right click' wireless LAN -> select properties -> advanced tab ->firewall settings -> select 'off'' ->ok ->ok.

The key for this router is written under the router itself. If that doesn't work, reset the modem by pressing and holding the reset button at the back of the router, for 10 seconds. This will reset the router settings to default, then try the key written on the sticker at the bottom of the router. You will have to re-configure the WAN settings after a reset.

I need to know how to hook up a westell versalink ? i dont have directions & i have a dial up connection on my desk top . do i need a server ? i have no idea what to do !!

In order to setup the versalink you need an active DSL account, a phone line cord, a phone jack, a pc or mac, and an ethernet cord or wireless ethernet card. Plug in the phone cord to the phone jack and to the DSL port on the versalink- once the DSL light is solid, plug in the ethernet cord to the computer you have, or enter the wep key on the bottom of the modem into the wireless manager for your system. At that point, if you need further assistance in getting online, contact Verizon or Bell (whichever is your DSL provider)- they can and will walk you through setting up the versalink to connect to the internet.

I have Verizon DSL service on my Westell 327w. It

whenever the connection drops, is the DSL light blinking?
because, it is just normal for the E1 light to blink, but the DSL light should be solid at all times.

It can be a possible issue with the cable or the LAN card, but you still need to have your line checked by Verizon to make sure that it is not a modem or a network issue.

I need help connecting a westell 7500 router/modem,i want to get a notebook on line. i didnt receive any intsructions.i need help connecting the westell 7500 to my pc and notebook thanking you.

Westell makes a line of broadband home networking products that enable residential customers and users in small businesses to access and share broadband services. These inexpensive DSL router/modems offer multi-users Internet LAN access for home or business applications. The Westell router/modems allow you to have the benefits of the "always on" high-speed broadband Internet connection without losing the ability to receive voice calls over the same phone line.
  1. Step 1 288254_thumb.jpg Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the computer's Ethernet port. Connect the other end to the Ethernet port on the back of the Westell router.
  2. Step 2 Connect the barrel end of the router's power cord to the connector labeled "12 v" on the back of the router. Plug the other end of the power cord into a wall outlet.
  3. Step 3 Connect one end of the DSL phone cable to the DSL line jack on the back of the router. Connect the other end to the wall jack.
  4. Step 4 Wait for the Ready and the Link LEDs to glow steady green. The router is now ready to use.

I have switched to a Westell VersaLink 327W from a older Westell Wirespeed. The Wirespeed communicated via USB and the new Westell communicates via Ethernet. How do I get the computer to see the modem?

If you are using a Westell DSL modem with ethernet connection, then you connect the modem's ethernet port to the computer's network card. This also uses an ethernet cable. Good Luck

Switching DSL Modems

Your dsl line stays the same. you're only changing your dsl equipment.

if you are not able to go online using the 327w, you might need to have it configured depending on the type of connection that you have. if you are using PPPoE (which means you enter a username and password on the modem to connect to verizon) you need your 327w configured for pppoe. but if you are using DHCP connection, any modem or routers should be plug and play.

Most verizon customers from the west coast uses DHCP while those on the east coast uses PPPoE.

You can call tech support to make sure which type of connection you are using.
