Have you verified the fuse at the radio and the fuse at the fuse block are good? Basicly make sure you have power to the back of the radio.

This link will get you to the service manual and schematic. These two PDF will give you enough data to build new boards from scratch. Unfortunately radios are very complicated so it's pretty hard to nail down a problem like this without taking it apart. I don't thinkit's the power diode for a couple reasons 1st they are rated at 200v and 1kv piv (the amount of reverse bias voltage it will survive) 2nd the diodes are rated for a forward surge of 30A which is easily supplied by your battery but the fuses would have blown. If your handy I would disconnect the power and pop it open to look for burnt components. the only solution I have is re check the power connections On rare (very rare won the lottery) occasions
a bad connection will show voltage but when the radio loads it down it won't carry current.

Sorry this is much help. I'm happy to answer any more questions.

My ranger 2950 wont transmit or receive sounds like a relay problem but dont no for shour can you tell me what is wrong with that radio thank you.

could be a number of different problems causing this. I would start with your microphone make sure it is working. it is responsible for transmit & recieve. next check to see if the memory battery is dead this will also cause this problem. next check the regulators in the radio to see if they are supplying check voltages in different parts of radio to see if all stages are recieving power follow these steps and something will show up also check your switching diodes to see if they are bad the diodes responsible for x-mit & r-mit of transceiver.

I am going to need a bit more information then that.

Does it do the same thing with other radio's?
Has any one been inside the radio?

The buzzing can be from either a rectifier in the power supply, or some times there is an issue on some 9600 boards that can cause a buzzing.

If its the power supply, then your receive will be poor because the buzzing is killing it.

Hopefully it's as easy as this carefully take the cover with the speaker in it off and look to make sure the speaker wire with the plug is plugged into the two prongs sticking up in the back right side corner it is a very tight fit though.Good luck Dan
