Question about Braun Flex XP II 5790 Electric Shaver
I've had the 5790 for just over two years. All of a sudden, the clean cycle will not end. I have to unplug the razor to get it to stop. I can plug the charger directly into the razor instead of the cleaning device. The razor will charge and will hold a charge as normal. Any ideas? Thanks.
I don't have a solution but we have the same one. We have had it for a little under a year and it won't charge anymore when you put it on the cleaning unit. I don't know how to fix this.

I was the original poster. Unfortunately, I had to buy a new razor/cleaning unit.

My husband just replaced the cleaning solution cartridge in his Braun 5790, but solution will not cycle and clean the shaver. What should we do?

I have the same issue but the charge/clean light on the razor itself wont come on or charge at all. Braun said to send it in for repair/exchange and to find out whats wrong with it.

I have had 3 1050CC shavers all with the same problem. Apparently other models have the same issue. After about a year of use, the unit reverses after dipping the shaver into the cleaning solution for a second. Two were replaced by Philips within the 2 year warranty period. I still use the 3rd one. There are several things you can try. If the cleaning solution is low this will cause the shaver to reverse and not clean. Add more cleaning solution. I have noticed that sometimes I have to add more fluid to the unit after a week of use. Sometimes it is necessary to fill the solution a little above the max fill line. Be careful though. Filling it too much above the max fill line can cause cleaning fluid to run out of the bottom after a cleaning cycle. If the above two fixes don't work, then press the clean button and after the unit reverses back up, wait about 5 or 10 minutes and press it again and it should stay down as long as there is enough cleaning solution in the unit. If you wait too long or too little to press the button, it won't work. I have noticed if I press the button immediately after it reverses the same problem occurs. Also if I wait 30 minutes before pressing the button the same problem occurs. There must be some sort of timing cycle. You may have to repeat this process a few times to get it to stay down and clean. This is the only way I can get mine to clean now. Obviously something is getting dirty or wearing out over time in the cleaning system. Since I have had 3 shavers with the same problem, I know many others have had it too. Philips must be aware of the problem. It is frustrating that they don't offer help on their own website and consumers have to band together to solve problems that they should be solving. The two year guarantee is very generous, but there is a design flaw with this product.
