Question about Acer Aspire 5570-2758 Notebook

1 Answer

Internet is wiggy

My Acer 3000 (old I know) says it's connected to the internet on a wireless airport system. It's not. The connection is registered, but my computer won't send out any kind of message. I also can't find any places to buy a hardwire for it, so either a tip on what's wrong, or a link to somewhere that I can get a hardwire for it, would  be appreciated

You need to attain Dynamic IP settings and then choose DHCP as that airport wireless router.

Cisco access point

Hi,
How to configure wireless access point using a laptop
Wireless technology makes connecting to the Internet possible from anywhere within the range of the network. Unfortunately, not all Internet-capable devices have wireless technology, and many still require an Ethernet port connection. If you have a laptop with a wireless card and an Internet connection, you can make the laptop a wireless access point and share that connection with other devices, whether your laptop runs a Windows or OSX operating system. Windows computers allow other devices to access the wireless network via a physical connection to the laptop, while OSX computers allow AirPort equipped devices to connect as well, creating a second wireless bubble for the network.

Instruction:
WINDOWS
1 Turn on the laptop and the device with which you will share the connection. Ensure the laptop's wireless card is turned on and you have an Internet connection.

2 Connect an Ethernet cord to the port on the laptop, and the other end to the receiving device. You need to make the connection first, or you will not be able to access the sharing options for the connection.

3 Open the list of network connections on the computer. In Windows 7 and Vista, access this list by typing "Network Connections" into the Start menu search bar and pressing "Enter." In Windows XP, click on "Network Connections" in the Network and Sharing Center section of the Control Panel.

4 Right click on the wireless connection and select "Properties," then navigate to the Sharing tab. This tab will not appear unless both devices are connected.

5 Check the box marked "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection." Click "OK" to save the changes.
OSX
1 Click on the Apple menu and select "System Preferences." Click the "Sharing" option, then choose "Internet Sharing."

2 Select the Airport and wireless network in the "Share your connection from:" drop-down menu.

3
Select an output format for the connection in the "To computers using:" drop-down menu. Choose "Ethernet" for a physical connection or "AirPort" for wireless broadcasting.

4
Turn on the device you wish to receive the connection. Connect the devices with an Ethernet cable, or turn on the receiving device's AirPort card and connect wirelessly.

Just got aspire 3000 .How do I turn on the wireless capeability

The wireless feature (Wireless LAN) on an Acer notebook allows you to connect to available networks. This convenience allows you to use the Internet with network cables, modems or network installation. Acer laptops come with a wireless switch to turn the wireless feature on or off. Once you enable the wireless feature, your Acer notebook can connect to wireless networks within range.

Follow these Instructions

Locate the Wireless LAN switch located on the front of your Acer Notebook. Move the switch to the right to turn on Wireless connections.

Right-click the network icon located on the system tray next to the clock. You should see a list of available wireless networks.

Select the network you want to connect to and click "Connect."

Our internet is fine on the old pc but the apple mac says we are not connected to the internet. I called Comcast and they said I would have to contact you.

Verify that you have the correct wireless settings- you'd have to check them in Airport. If you have one pc online, and the other isn't- try plugging the Apple into via ethernet (the thick cable)
If it gets online that way- you know it is a setting w/in Airport (the wireless manager for the Apple) at that point, verify the settings in your router, and make certain you have the information set correctly in Airport

Not connecting wirelessly to mac

Thank you for contacting Fixya Support, I am glad to assist.

Depending on what type of Internet service you are using, your Intel iMac comes standard with an Airport Extreme wireless card built in. As a result, if you are unable to connect wirelessly to the Internet, you will need to try this:

- Click on the Apple menu icon, located in the upper left corner of your screen and select System Preferences from the drop down menu.

- Now locate Network from within System Preferences.
- In the side window, make sure you see Airport and check also to see that it is turned on. If it is, then check the left side window to see if the AirPort connection is active.

Keep in mind, your modem or connection router of course, has to be able to provide wireless connectivity, otherwise, if you do not, there will be no need to try connecting via your AirPort Extreme card.

If your network has been physically set as a wireless network, then just turning on the AirPort card in System Preferences>Network will start discovering all networks within its range, including your own network.

So whether you are using an Airport Extreme, Express or a 3rd party (non-Apple-branded) router, you should be able to connect wirelessly.

If you are still unable to connect with these basic steps, here are a few articles you will need to review from Apple Support informational database:
Requirements for wireless Internet access with AirPort
Airport & Bluetooth interference (for connectivity issues)

So here are some basic steps and resources you can try.

If you have more questions please feel free to post a comment.

I hope this information helps.

Regards,

Attempting to connect new Acer netbook to existing Mac network

Had the same problem. What i did was in the Airport Configuration program goto "Airport" then to "Wireless" and then to "Wirelesee options" In this menu deselect "Use wide channels". Also i decreased the power of the 5.0 Ghz transmission, because i don't use it yet. But i think the "Wide channels" is the reason of the problem. It is a bit weird thoug, on my Airports Guest acount with no password and incryption, the Acer One loged on perfectly, but on my private network with WPA2 it did not. Aparantly the Guest network does not use "Wide Channels" Hope this helps, but take care, maybe the menu's are called differendly because i had to translate them from Dutch. Good luck.

Airport has signal

The airport has a wireless signal but its not supplied by your provider. In order to use wireless at the airpport you have to pay their provider too.

Your system can receive and send to the wireless network in the airport but usually when you have connected to their wireless network, once you open a browser (IE or Firefox) it will provide you with a sign up page where they want you to pay typically $9.99 for 24 hours of use of their wireless network, which you sign up for with a credit card.

So you should be able to recieve that page but you can't access the rest of the internet unless you pay them for access.

Sorry
