May be your unit is not defrosting and the grinding noise could have been the fan tuching on the build up of frost, you need to check your timer or defrost thermostat

Fridge light doesn't work/makes ticking noise

Let the refrigerator cool for awhile without opening the door. 39 minutes should do. Then check to see if the bulb is warm or hot. If it is the door switch is bad and the light is staying on which will make the plastic expand and cracklel or tick. Hope this helps.

I bought the fridge in 2006. In 2008 it began making a loud vibrating noise. Repairman replaced the fan motor blade.Took 30 days to get part! It was never quite right after that. Had problems with defrost...

Could all be in the fan motor. If it's bad again, I would change the motor and blade. Then fire it back up and test for correct cycling.
That may take a week of running until you get a true picture of whats happening, but they do have a lot of trouble with the motherboard./

The freezer is cold, but the rest of the refrigerator is warm. I vacuumed the bottom area, but still not cooling. Every now and then I hear a quiet grinding type noise. Not sure what else to check

THE GRINDING IS YOUR FAN:)
but the problem is in your freezer section :
make sure the fan is working in it.
open the panel inside the freezer and check heating element and heating thermostat one of them is bad .
you fix that and your fridg is good as new

"water filling" noise coming

It maybe liquid nitrogen settling down after a round cooling the fridge. The nitrogen has to circulate and become gaseous while cooling. Then it has to settle down once the compressor stops pushing it. That is why the fridges and ACs are supposed to use stablizers with delay of two minutes at the least.

Our LG GR359SQ Fridge Freezer, the fridge has stopped cooling. Everything else seems to still work, freezer, lights etc. But the fridge is warm. Any thoughts?

Make sure the the evaporator fan is running and circulation is getting to the fridge side. Remove anything that could be blocking the vent that brings in the air from the freezer to the fridge. Make sure that no frost is building up in the back of the freezer. If there is frost, then the timer can be going bad.

I had a very similar problem- flickering light bulbs, shorting-out noises, electronic temperature displays not working. I had to replace a small circuit board (the "Electronic Control Board") accessed from the rear of the fridge. A relatively easy do-it-yourself job.
