Take out the 2 screws that hold the cd player. the player slides out (may have to take a thin tool to get it moving) Once the player is out try to change your video settings. You should be able to watch TV. From there you can try and find out weather the player is bad or just jamed. The players do go bad and can be purchaced on ebay.
most of the time by selecting the customer menu and going into the input or source setting you are able to select the tuner/video settings. If you can select channel or tuner setting and you still don't get video, then it might need some tuner repair.
You will have to change the dvd player resolution to 1080i (or change resolution for each individual disc), because:
a) there is no way to change the resolution manually on this television
b) this TV maxes at 1080i, hence negating most of the utility of using an hdmi cable (Of course, hdmi cables are much easier to hook up, less messy than component cables; so all is not lost)
