You can try installing the game you want to play on the Xbox 360 Hard Disk, which reduces the motor noise to an extent, however there is no permanent way to fix the loud fan motor noise while playing the game with the disk in the drive.
Make sure you keep your Xbox 360 unit well ventilated, ensure it does not gather dust near the small vents and openings on the unit.
I know what you mean , some drives are LOUD .Try wraping it
with towels ,just kiding . I have recived alot of request to quite
these drives down , I am working on a sound insulator
that will wrap around the cd rom to knock 10-20db off
but i have to watch out for heat build up. Ill keep you posted.
Bobby.
I presume the unit works fine it's just loud, right?
I had a similar problem with my xbox 360. Reconnect all cords that are in the back of the xbox. If that doesn't work the best thing to do is call microsoft.
That is called a FRAG when the xbox is flashing red and green. Was it modified in any way? Normally it means the onboard bios or modchip has gone bad. I would recommend a replacement if you don't have soldering experience. They are about $30 on craigslist.
Might be a faulty power supply mate , when you turn the xbox on observe the power indicator on the power brick. Green means its okay
Amber means the console is in standby
Red means the Brick has had it.
Try a friends power brick to see if it does the same.
Not entirely sure but maybe the disk drive bricked, though I wouldn't replace it without looking into it more. But it would make sense consider the noises. Was there anything attached to the disc or was the disc damaged after this incident?
From what I no when the 360's light indicated flashes yellow it means it's overheated, try letting cool down. I have had so many problems with my 360 and the cdrom drive is number 1. When my drive started making all that noise i almost started to cry. What i did was called the Xbox Helpdesk and they fixed the problem right away. Call the Xbox Helpdesk at this number: 1-800-469-9269 (This munber will get you through faster). if you ahve any more questions just let me know....
