1 Answer

Digital reception We have the MW24FP1 TV/VCR/DVD combo and love it. Do we need a converter box to receive digital channels starting in February? If not, what do I need to do to receive digital channels? I have tried everything I can find in the manual. Thank you. Bev

Have had digital installed and cannot get tv to work through digital. Any advice?

Hello
Thei Orion model Tv is not equipped with a digital tuner inside. There is only an analogue tuner fitted and only analogue channels can be received by this set. To get digital channels, you have to buy one settop box, which can convert digital signals to analogue signals. In short, a Digital to Analogue Converter should be bought, if you want to get digital channels. OK.

Moved, no longer have cable and not getting any channels via attenna. Is it just bad reception or do I need a digital converter because of the change to digital stations?

Could be bad reception and or make sure the tv which was in the cable mode when you had cable now needs to be in air or antenna mode. IF you have another tv that works ok then you will know the channels just need to be reprogrammed for over the air signal. Go into the menu of tv and find program channels and switch to air or it might say antenna..

Digital converter

If you recieve your signal on this TV over the Air (Rabbit Ears) then Yes you will need a digital Converter for this TV. If you are hooked up to Cable or a Satalite Dish, your TV will continue to work without the converter box.

Do I need a dtv digital converter box for my Symphonic SC313D 13 inch tv?

Pretty much a hoax on those diverter boxes. People ran out and bought them thinking that won't have reception. I have many years in maintenance and several years in nursing homes with different tv's in every room. Not once have I needed a box to pick up channels with or without cable. I myself get 16 channels with rabbit ears and thats enough for me. And I do own a combo as well and it has simple antenna and does me just fine. Depending on your location, the old tv antennas we use to put on our houses...they work amazing! Might be able to snag one on a freecycle or craigslist site. Good luck! :)

Toshiba TV Combo MW24FP1, DVD player doesn't work on some discs

This is a common problem for all combo units. The high voltage of the TV section attracts large amounts of particulate dust from the air and often it collects inside the DVD unit. The best way to deal with this is to clean the lens of the DVD unit u sing a cotton swab and alcohol. The store bought "cleaners" MAY work, but that is rare. These cleaners are nothing but small brushes embedded into a disc. They attempt to brush off hte dust. This rarely works. Open up the unit (if you feel comfortabel in doing so) to access the DVD section. Remove the top cover and carefully clean the lens. That should resolve the problem.

Cable stations 2 - 12 fussy, distorted. All higher channels perfect.

This is caused by a bad ground connection. Check all of the connectors to be sure they are not loose. Also check the cables themselves. It is possible that the ground connection inside the set is bad too. If the cables and connections appear to be OK, try moving the set to another location where the picture is good. If hte pitcture is still bad, the TV tuner may have a problem internally.
Keep us posted.
