Trouble with Poulan 2150 Chain saw automatic chain oiler

I have a Poulan 2150 Chain saw. The chain oiler is pumping too much oil. Is it a gear driven oiler or a pressure oiler, and is there any adjustment for it. Thank you

Hi - similar problem - I run out of oil before gas, clearly a dangerous situation. Any advice as to how to run out of gas first? I.e., how to lower oil flow?
    Thanks,
    Marek

The tube to the the oiler metering valve is probably broke open. This happens with age. Replace the tube by cutting tube on sharp angle and push through the oiling port. using needle nose pliers pull tube in enough to cut and attach to the metering valve.

Thanks, guys. Right, I do fill it partially now, but it's annoying. Oh well, there is no simple way to restrict the line - I have disassembled the unit and one would only hope the designers would think about a simple device for adjusting oil flow, but there is none. Primitive, since oil will flow at very different rates in cold and warm weather...

Top off the oil, but only fill the fuel level about 3/4 to the top.

Try to pour some gasoline only in the oiled tank and look if the gas comes out, if not the tank is clogged .

Brand new poulan pro 4620avx--bar oil is coming out of oiler but not getting onto chain

Hello. Thin your bar oil just a wee bit with some kerosene. If you have a gallon of bar oil add 1/4 cup of kerosene, stir it up and you will be fine. For starters also, directly apply some bar oil to the chain so that you are always using a well lubed chain. Joe

Poulan Pro Chain Saw Bar Chain Oiler Stopped Flowing

The filter can usually be caught with a hooked wire and drawn up far enough to deal with the filter. Oil filters are not prone to plugging unless the oil used is contaminated. If you run the engine without the bar and chain attached, oil should ooze out of the engine side port. If nothing, suspect problems with the oil pump. Some saws use a plastic gear in the pump and can strip the teeth of the gear. You should find it located behind the clutch assembly. Once you have oil flowing from the engine, clean the bar drive-end oil ports that go from the large holes out to the chain groove on each side. Finally, run the bar tip near some cardboard--it should throw off a thin line of oil. I have no idea what the plastic tube might be (a manual pumper perhaps?). Hope this helps!

I need remove the clutch on my 2150 poulan pro chain saw, so I can fix the chain oiler.

Good film. Make certain the piston is above the exhaust port or the rope can fall through and damage the piston above the piston ring. When started it comes apart and destroys the saw.
The oiler worm gear is behind the metal cover visible once all clutch parts are removed. HTH

These oilers are called diaphragm oilers and work fairly well when the saw is new with great compression. As the saw wears out, the compression drops and a side effect is less oil pumped. The diaphragm is replaceable and it's not horribly expensive. Most good saws use a gear oiler - and even the newer Poulans use gear oilers. The gear oilers tend to have less problems and don't rely on engine compression.

Poulan oiler don't work

Common problem with Poulan and Craftsman gas saws. Take off the chain and chain guide and clean out all the saw dust etc. Start saw without chain and look for port where there are signs of oil. If port is clear of sawdust, then it is likely the pump which is located behind the chain break assembly. you can get the diagram on Poulan website and the replacement pump will cost about $15 - $20 to replace yours.

Have a MAC 3818 chain saw it just stopped oiling.

Same for me. Take chain off and ensure clean oil hole and channel. Clean hole if needed with fine wire or heavy nylon line. otherwise I think problem is interior, either oiler itself or oiler oil tube came loose. Since I have no excess oil coming out I suppose oiler iself is bad.Still working on it.
