Question about Carrier 38CKC042 Air Conditioner
I have an attic installed horizontal gas furnace for about 10 years. The unit has been making noise and rumbling vibration lately. I removed the blower assembly from the unit and inspected the blower wheel. It appears that the fin assembly is slightly detached from the two round dishes that hold them in place. I turned the shaft of the motor quickly and the fin assembly grinds the dish slightly, therefore making a short grinding noise. Is the fin assembly supposed to be held tight by the two round dishes? Can someone tell me if the wheel is bad or there could be other problems? If replacing the blower wheel is the solution what are the steps and cautions that I should take? Thanks in advance.
Yes you have a bad blower wheel the fins are crimped to the disks, if you can take the blower assembly out just watch the wiring and take the motor out of the center of housing away from blower wheel and when taking out the wheel remember the diriction of the wheel
