LG tv is in standby mode

I just got a tv from a friend (LG) and I have no remote for it. When I turn it on by pressing the power button, it is in stand by mode. I don't know how to reset it or get it off standby without the remote. Can anyone help??

If your television is going into standby when you are manually pressing the power button, that means your television is in safe mode. Your remote will not help you in most instances when this happens. If you heard a pop of some sort that is not good, if there was no noise then unplug the TV for an hour or so to let it reset it self. If that does not fix it you need some service work done on it.

Did you have any luck? My LG is stuck in demo mode too. Menu button doesn't work, and keylock was on as default so I can't use the buttons on the TV itself.

May someone please send the service mode specifications for a Samsung LED 40 inch TV UA40EH5000R?

I don't have service mode specifications but I do have a Samsung and looked around for how to get it in service mode some time ago because the HDMI cables somehow disconnected themselves a lot. Thought it was an electronic problem but it turned out to be a parenting problem instead SO I have never used this information and can not vouch for it. I cut and paste it from a note I copied from a forum entry to use at your discretion:
First post:
To enter "Service Mode" Press the remote - control keys in this sequence :
From Standby Info-Menu-Mute-Power On
- The buttons are active in the service mode.
Remote - Control Key : Power, Arrow Up, Arrow Down, Arrow Left, Arrow Right, Menu, Enter, Number Key(0~9)
Careful though there are things you shouldn't touch in this menu.

Another post:
Method 1
Put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu.
Method 2
Turn the power off. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 8, 2, Power in sequence.
Method 3
With the TV in standby, press the {DISPLAY} {P.STD} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
Method 4
With the TV in standby, press the {SLEEP} {P.STD} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
Method 5
With the TV in standby, press the {DISPLAY} {MENU} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
Method 6
With the TV in standby. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 1, 9, Enter in sequence.

End quote.
Good luck. Just a basic suggestion you probably don't need: keep track of any changes made by writing them down so you can put it all back if you have to.

Panasonic TX-L42S10B has power but won't turn on

ok, this may be a silly question but when you turn it on and it starts flashing red, have you tried pressing the stand-by button on the remote. if a tv has been put on stand-by by the remote, and is then switched off by the set, when the set is turned back on it is still in stand-by mode and you need to press the stand-by button on the remote.
other than that I don't know.

When i turn it on it clicks and the goes right back off

New set?
If you're turning almost any TV on by the manual power switch on it, thats Standby mode.
The next step it's waiting for is the ON command from the remote control.
There are two main methods remotes use to go to ON from Standby:
Press the Power button for both on and off commands
Press any 1-10 (or 1-0) button for on, press power button for off.

Jtahafter fixing the cable the monitor shows turn to power mode how to solve this problem

Need to know a little more about it but just off the top of my head I would say that you will find the solution to your problem in your remote. Sounds like it is in sleep mode or stand by mode. Open up the menu on your remote and see if it has a power saver mode or a sleep or stand by mode. If it does exit that mode and it automatically default to power mode. Also look on the set itself for any user friendly controls that could have these features. IBM likes to impress it's competitors with security which usually results in denying the consumer access to the product. It's in there somewhere and all I can advise is get comfortable and get the remote and get at it. Sorry I don't know which button to push to bail you right out, maybe someone else will answer that has first hand knowledge of your system. dhgill1949

Remote stopped working. How does one reset the remote?

Programming a code into a remote mode:

  1. Turn on the component to be programmed, then press the corresponding MODE button on the remote control. (TV, VCR, AUX, CABLE, ETC)
  2. Press the MENU and MUTE buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds, the button selected component lights on the remote control. If you don't press any button for 20 seconds, the button selected component will turn off on the remote control.
  3. Enter a code number using the number buttons on the remote. When pressing the button, the light is blinked at a time. Programming codes for the corresponding component can be found on the following website. Again, if the code is correct, the device will turn off.
  4. Press the MENU button to store the code. After blinking twice, this code is stored.

Want to program dish remote to lg dvd player

Hey bcl9113!

We can definitely get that remote programming to your LG DVD player. As we currently don't have any LG codes the steps below will show you how to Power Scan the code to your remote.

Power Scan:

1.) With the desired equipment on, press and hold the desired mode button (about six seconds) on top of the remote until all mode button backlights come on, then release.

AUX Mode:
Press 0 for a TV,
Press 1 for a VCR/DVD,
Press 2 for any other device,
Then press STAR (*)

2.) Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will power off.
3.) Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times. To verify the code works try several different functions for that equipment.

Hope that helps! If you require further assistance you can post here or email me at thomas.faust@dishnetwork.com.
