Remote just stopped working any components. Changed out the batteries and no difference. Tried resetting codes on several devices and still nothing at all. Backlight works, can set time on clock, set codes, etc. but remote will not operate anything. Seemed that everything went dead all at once and at the same time.

You can find out if the remote is broken by taking a camera with an LCD viewfinder (such as a camera phone) in a dark room, point the remote at the camera and in the viewfinder you will see a light coming from the remote if it is working. If you see a light, chances are the remote is good. You may need to reprogram the remote.

Another way to verify if the remote is working is use your phone or camera to look at the IR eye of the remote while pressing a button you will be able to see a red light everytime you push the buttons to make sure the remote isnt just faulty. TV brand?
Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera's Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera's screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.

The remote on my vizio tv will not operate the tv. The remote has new batteries and the remote lights up when the buttons are pushed. It will work occasionally but not very often. What can I do.

Well, we need to test the remote to see if it is actually sending out the IR signals to the TV IR receiver.

My remote for this tv will not turn on or off and/or change channels - when i press any button the red light flashes but nothing happens - i tried changing the batter as well - please help

Take the remote parts.Take some Q tips dip it some rubbing alchahols, clean the remote PCB board and those battery connections.Wait like about 20 mins, put it back together.Tries it out,now it should work. Not,than the remote CPU is shorted and dead.Try website like Remotes.com to buy an exact original remote or very close compatible one.
