Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

F20 troubleshooting code

We're experiencing frequent "F20" codes (water inlet problem), even though no problems were found when checking all suggested F20 code causes. It appears the problems are due to unbalanced loads, no matter how light the loads are. After rebalancing the loads (sometimes several times for the same load), the wash cycle finally completes. The machine is only about 1-1/2 years old.

Thanks, "oldfixer," for trying to help with our problem...your suggestions are above and beyond the average handyman's knowledge of the technicalities involved. A repairman had to fix the "water sensor contact relay" located on the top rear right side under the top cover. He removed the hose connection; tilted the sensor upwards, and blew into the hose till he heard a clicking noise. After reconnecting the hose, the problem was solved for a few days. Ultimately, we had to install a new water sensor contact relay, and the problem is now fixed...we hope! Thanks again, helga_ron

Got a f20 code on my washer and i have a question

How to fix Whirlpool Duet F20 Error:
Whirlpool uses a flow meter that detects the flow of water entering the washer. If this flow meter does not detect the correct amount of water entering the washer it will sound the F20 error code. Often this repair can be made with out calling an appliance repairman and without ordering parts. Start by removing the washer fill hoses; both the cold and the hot water hoses. Check for proper water pressure from the house. To do so, turn the water on and put the hose inside the washer or a bucket.
If water pressure is good, check the water valve inlet screens. Most residential washing machines have inlet screens. The screens prevent minerals from clogging the solenoid. With the hoses removed, you can visually inspect the water inlet screens. If the water valve screens are clear the inlet valve with the screens itself will need to be replaced. To replace the water valve, remove the top of the washing machine. Three screws hold the top down. The screws that hold the top down are on the back of the top panel. Once removed the top will slide back and off. Now remove the wire harness that connects to the valve. One screw holds the valve to the washers cabinet. Removing the screw and sliding the valve over will release the valve from the back panel enabling you to complete your repair.
One last thing to check is the fill hoses. These front load duet washers call for a lot of water quickly. So if you have stainless steel braided flood-safe hoses, they will trip for no reason at all. Replace these flood safe hoses with more traditional hoses.

F20 error code

Hi.

F20 means that there is a water inlet problem:

Reasons for error F20:
(Water Inlet Problem-no water or insufficient
water supply) Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle
Unplug washer or disconnect power.

Check the following:
Are water faucets completely turned on?
Are screens at inlet hose connection to washer
clogged? Are water inlet hoses kinked? Are water inlet hoses frozen?

If that does not help inlet valve, pressure switch and control module must be tested. The defective part must be replaced.

Here the tech sheet.

Regards.

My Kenmore Elite HE5T front loading washer is giving me an F20 (Water inlet problem - no water or insufficient water supply) code. The Drum fills half way up with water in about 5 minutes and then the...

The F20 error deals with the water coming into the tub. The F20 code indicates the control didn't see any water enter the tub.

  1. There is a flow meter that tells the control water is coming into the washer. If the flow meter is faulty the error usually happens quickly.
  2. Near the pressure switch is a clear plastic hose may be kinked or even have a small hole in it. Check the drain line first and then remove the top of the washer to access the pressure switch and pressure hose. With the washer empty remove the hose from the pressure switch located on the right side of the washer and blow through it to clear any debris blocking the pressure hose or air trap.
  3. If this doesn't help then most likely you will need to replace the pressure switch.

I have a error code washer mayta f20

Hi,

"F20" indicates a water inlet problem (no water or insufficient water supply) in your washer. To resolve this issue check your washer inlets, maybe the water valves are off or you don't have enough water pressure.

Thank you!!

What does the f20 code mean

"F20" is a No Water Detect error. It is an indication that you either have no water coming into the washer, or very little water at all. The following link explains how to troubleshoot:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608632-f20_error_code

This is one of those error codes that can be tricky to troubleshoot due to the many potential causes of the problem. My adivce to you is to eliminate the easy common sense items first, such as making sure the water taps are turned on sufficiently, the inlet hoses aren not kinked, the water inlet valve is not clogged, you don't have a siphoning issue, and/or the drain pump is working.

For the more complicated potential causes, each one of these washers comes with a technical data sheet inside.

To access, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door. The access screws are located under the bottom front edge of the panel. You may have to prop the two front fett of the washer up for better access ( a 2x4 works well for this). With the screws removed, the panel should drop down, then come off. If the tech sheet isn't directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls.

The tech sheet lists all error code definitions, troubleshooting data, diagnostics procedures and wiring diagrams. I mention the tech sheet because you may need it to troubleshoot this error code.

Read through the information provided and let me know if you have any further questions. I hope this can help you.

Washer will not spin and indicates "F20".

Hi there,

"F20" is a No Water Detect error code. Some of these error codes can be erroneous, however. The first step in troubleshooting any error code on these washers is to, first, unplug the unit for AT LEAST 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the CCU. If the error code returns after a reset, then you know you have a real problem. The following link explains the error code:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r1491905-f20_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

This is one of the more involved error codes to try to resolve because there are so many causes. I suggest you start with the simple things first. Make sure the water inlet hoses are unclogged and water flows freely through them. You can determine this by turning off the water and removing each hose from the back of the washer. Place them in a bucket or position the washer where you can place them inside the wash tub and turn the water back on. Both hoses should have free unobstructed water flow. It is common for the sediment screens at the end of the hoses to become clogged if you live in an area the uses well water, or if you have hard water.

Next, Make sure you don't have a siphoning problem. This is causes by placing the drain hose too far down in the standpipe. This creates a vacuum and the washer constantly drains as it tries to fill. If you pull up on the drain hose and hear a sucking noise, you have the drain line positioned too far in the standpipe. You need to keep an air gap in order to allow proper drainage.

Then, check the drain pump for obstructions. There is a clean out reservoir that you can remove the access the pump interior. Use the instructions I provide to perform these steps.

These are the simple items that you can easily rule out, first. Follow the remaining tips I provided you and if you still have questions, let me know before rating the solution.

I hope this helps you.
Good Luck!!
Thanks
