Question about JVC Car Audio & Video

Open Question

I have a JVC KD-G505 stereo system in my car. It's been working awesome for the month that i've had the car, but now it doesn't turn on or anything. The arial of my car does not go up at all expect when a CD is being injected or inserted after which the arial goes back down. I read a little note in the manual which said that disconnecting the stereo ofter could damage the connectors? if so what could i do to fix it?

you have to press and hold the set button until you see "demo" appear, and then RELEASE the set button - this gets you to the settings menu.. Then you use the little >> and << selector to select clock hour /then clock minute and use the tuning dial to adjust. - then push the set button again to exit the settings menu.

SOURCE: HOW TO REMOVE JVC KD-PDR61

You slide them in on the sides of the radio in between the radio and the mounting sleeve. Push them in all the way and they open up the metal piece that clicks into place and holds the radio in. You can then just pull the radio out.

A "FixYa!" rating would be apprecieated for this free information.

Let me know if you require any more help.

SOURCE: manual for jvc kd-lh811 car

You can check here for all of JVC owners and installation manuals, but your model number did not come up when I did the search for it. You may want to try using the KD-LH810 manuals, it may be the same as yours.

To test radio to see if its working you can bench test it. This means to combine red and yellow and run to 12V positive and Black to 12V negative. IF radio turns on, it would mean its working.

It sounds like your stereo is working properly. I've never seen a car stereo that was wired properly that you could turn on and listen to while the car was off with the key removed from the ignition switch. You would have to move the ignition switch to the accessory position in order to get the stereo to work. Hope this helps. Good luck. Mike D.
