Question about Samsung HP-R5072 50 in. Plasma HDTV

50" Samsung Plasma HP-R5072

Hello! I posted a problem a couple nights ago, but I should prolly ask this first, before I get to the black screen issue. The TV, 50" Samsung Plasma HP-R5072, has been stored on its side for 9 days now (power disconnected, of course). Its laying vertically against the wall, as to not put all the weight on the speakers attached to the bottom. I have read that doing this will not kill the TV, but that when I go to turn it on next, I should lay it standing horizontally (as it would be displayed on a wall) for 24 hours or so before turning it back on, to let the gas all spread out. Is this true? Or have I killed the TV? Or do I not need to wait at all? Please advise all you tech gurus! Thanks a lot!

It is a myth about how the tv is positioned, if you have audio but no video then it is probably the y-main bopard or the y-scan board, if you replace the y-scan buffer then you have to replace the y-main at the same time, if the tv is in warranty call 1-800-samsung

I have 2 vertical black line in the left botton, space by an inch and they are going un to mid screen

Hi.

It is probably a defective buffer board. In that case the lines will be positioned in correspondence of the buffer board connection to plasma panel. In less frequent cases the problem can also be a defective plasma panel. There are more faults that can cause the problem. The TV must be tested.

Samsung Plasma 42" TV - 2006

Hi, this is quite a common problem for plasma screens and LCD screens. The fluroscent backlight is more than likely faulty and would need replacing. The best thing to do is to take it to a service centre because there are no user servicable parts inside the plasma.

If the band is vertical in nature and it goes from top to bottom then you might just have a bad address board. This requires a technician to look at it and replace it.
