Warranty normaly does not cover theft, if the camera had been stolen, you need an insurance, and not a warranty to cover theft damage.

If you have an insurance, and you want to get rewarded, you can call the retailer to retrieve your camera details.

Serial number faded off

If you still have the original box for the camera it will be located there. If you still have the original receipt or the manufacturers warranty card/information then it is sometimes located there. If you don't have any of the above then sometimes you can locate it within the camera settings and sometimes the camera manufacturer can tell you what the camera model is when you take it in to get serviced via the firmware.

Hope this helps.

My camera was stolen over the weekend. To try to find the camera, the police need the serial number. I still have the box it came in with teh manual. Is there any way to get the serial number off the box...

Hi, On the side of the box there should be barcodes, the serial tends to be a mixture of letters and numbers where as the product identifier is just numbers. If you need more help let me know.

My problem is...that my camera was stolen! I am trying to get another (eBay, etc) but getting no luck. Bought it back in 2005 so maybe too old to replace now. Wondering if you ever get to hear of...

Here is a site that yo can use to track any pictures that have been uploaded on the internet fro your stolen camera. It uses the serial number stored internally on your camera to locate pictures that have been uploaded with the same serial number.
Would help you find a replacement used camera, but you did not post make, model #, etc...
Good luck. RJ

Stolen camera

Using the software is not going to help you locate the serial number for the camera.

The serial number for the camera is located on the warranty card that came with the camera. You also may be able to contact Olympus Customer Service if you registered the camera on their website as they may be able to look up that information for you. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3

How do I activate my warrenty of Olympus camera?

From the date of purchase of the camera you automatically have a one year factory warranty. There is no need to activate anything. If your camera needs service during that first year all you would need to send to one of the Olympus repair facilities is a copy of your receipt showing date of purchase and a copy of the warranty card.
