Question about Electrolux Centralux Vacuum

1 Answer

Doesn't work Our home was built and finished in August 07.  The central vac doesn't work.  There is supposed to be a slot that opens in the kitchen where you sweep the dust and it sucks it up.  Also, the mounted unit on the garage wall has a hose that goes up into the house but there is a hole open at the bottom of the unit.  Where can I get someone to help us?  Or, is there an installation manual I can download to see if the builder did it properly.  He stole our solar heater for our pool and some other materials, so maybe he took something important that we need.  Thank you for your help

Has the slot in the kitchen (VacPan) been installed? Or is it just not working? There should be tubing coming into the unit in the garage, and possibly another piece to exhaust the unit to the outdoors, although this isn't always necessary. The intake is on the left if you are facing the unit, and the exhaust is on the right. So if there is only tubing coming into the unit on the left, then that may be okay. Go to http://www.aerusonline.com/service/manuals.cfm and you can download the owners manual and the installation manual. Good Luck!

My home has a central vacuum system hook-up but no vacuum installed. My friend upgraded his central system and gave me his Eureka Mega Boss central vacuum system and the accessories, including the pow

The power head requires 120 Volts. Some hoses have a receptacle in the handle for the power head plug, and the hose has a cord at the wall inlet end that plugs into a receptacle. Some hoses have a plug at the wall inlet end that plugs into a 120Volt receptacle built into the inlet. The hose plugs into this receptacle when you push the hose into the inlet. The power for this built-in receptacle is wired with line voltage when the system is installed.

Hayden 6000+ wont run

Define hose works or doesn't, no suction, hose will not activate vac , etc.
Test the vac by shorting across the low voltage terminals where they enter the machine. If the vac works here your problem is in the internal wiring, at the valve or the hose to wall connection. If the vac will not run, you will need to check the motor for continuity across the motor leads.

Nutone cv353 central vac blew up

My guess would be that the motor is done. Impossible to diagnose for sure without seeing it of course. If you were happy with the unit before the trouble, a replacement motor will probably run $250-$300. If you are interested in a new unit, shop around. There are definitely better designed and more powerful units out there, although some of them can cost quite a bit more than $300. Good Luck!!

Central Vac does not shut off

Sounds like the relay that is in the central vac unit is stuck to the ON position. When you plug it back in..does it start right up ? If so.. You should be able to disconnect all the receptacle feeds to the central vac unit at the central vac unit to determine which one ( if any) is calling for the vac to stay on.. if none are.. then it is internal to the vac and may be a stuck relay... Hope that gives you some ideas to check...

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Even though the belt looks fine it does stretch out and then it will not spin the brushroll @ the speed it is supposed to spin, there are 2 or 3 things to check. #1. The brushroll has be turning or spinning freely without the belt being on the unit. #2. The motor pulley has to be spinning freely as well #3. The belt needs to be changed every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and to store the extras belts in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. I am not sure what the brand name of the central vac is, and maybe next time you can include the brand name and model #.

Thanks, Don the Vac Man

Central vac

It is possible that the low voltage wiring that controls your central vacuum has been damaged during the cable work. You can check to see if the low voltage relay is working by shorting the two terminals together at the unit. Just disconnect the two small (18-22 gauge) wires from the unit and short across the terminals where the wires connect. If the unit comes on, the vacuum is fine, and it is most likely the low voltage control wires that have been damaged. It should be a pretty easy fix, if you can get to where the wires are located. They are probably just pulled apart at a joint. Good Luck!!

Wiring up central vac too breaker box.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
A central vac not knowing the brand name or model # uses regular household current and plugs into a regular household inlet and I have never heard of wiring the central vac to the breaker box. The central vac is usually out in the garage or down the basement and will be in the regular household current. You may want to ask the manufacturer or the vac dealer you purchased the central vac from and they might have more information for your and if your central vac needs to be wired to the breaker box they will give you instructions, but I don’t believe that you need to do so. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

no suction on lower level second floor fine
ran fish tape but it does not go all the way through,
do i need to take pipe out.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Not @ first, try to get a central vacuum cuff and go to each and every inlet / outlet down the basement and put the cuff in the inlet – the central vac should come on and possibly might unclog the pipe, 2nd, try taking another canister type vacuum while the central vac is running and open the inlet door and try to “pull apart the clog in the pipe” – this does work upon occasion if not you can try a plumbers snake – but be careful because the walls of the pvc pipe are thin wall and you don’t want to poke a hole in the pipe or other wise you will have to replace the pipe. The absolute last resort should be to replace the pipe if all other do not work.
