My Sharp Cash Register (ER-A410) won't turn on in manager mode

When I turn the key to the manager position on my cash register it turns off completely. Yes, I'm using the MA key and all the other modes work fine. I accidentally charged too much for something and tried to fix it, but I'm unable to switch to manager mode. So, I can't void anything. It still lets me do everything els in REG mode , but when I turn the key to MGR position it just turns off. I've tried to contact my service rep but he's currently in the hospital. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Thank you so much. I need to have someone check into the connectors. In the mean time I think I should try to set the void button to work in REG mode. I did see codes for it in my manual, but when I tried to do it, the register kept beeping so I must be doing something wrong. I will mess with it some more tomorrow and get back to you. Thanks again for your time and assistance.

It is usually caused by a faulty or dirty mode switch. The first thing to try is squirting a bit of electrical lube down the key hole (WD40 or similar works fine), then turn the key back and forth a few times. Otherwise, the contacts inside the switch may have failed. I have also had a loose connector on the main board cause this in another model, so you could try pushing the connectors inside and make sure they are tight.

Hope this helps. You can set the void button to work in REG mode if you don't want to get the MGR mode fixed. Just let me know and I can look up the codes for you. You should be able to refund items as well (unless this has been set work in MGR mode also).

We have been giving a Sharp cash register ER-A550s and it was going when my BIL put it away and now he cant turn it on.Any hints please??Thanks.

Battery will only hold the program for 6 months, You may have to take it to a Sharp repair center to have it Initialized. One other thing
you could try if you have a service key. Unplug AC Turn mode lock to blank spot next to program 2. Power on cash register by plugging it in.

Does it open when you print a Z report? The most common problem with these was either the drawer wiring or drawer solenoid failing.
If anyone needs more information, the Sharp ER-A410 and ER-A420 manual is here:
