Keep in mind this web site for better prices on cables. Sound like you bought from Radio Shack by the price.

These online vendors can have this stuff in your hands very quickly on a UPS 3rd Day Business shipment.

Glad our man from Hawaii was able to help you.

Is the camera hooked directly to a usb connector on the computer or to a hub connected to a usb connector?

Sorry for the delay. The hotel wireless connection took a dive. If the camera works OK and it is just a message then go to Control Panel>Device Manager>Universal Serial Bus Controllers>USB Enhanced Host Controller>right click to select properties>Advanced and then check the box that says "Do not tell me about usb errors". That will stop the error messages which only mean that the camera is drawing slightly more than 500mA which is a USB 2.0 feature that you can disable to revert to USB 1.1 but not necessary if the camera works. Each of the Host Controllers has a check box like that. The USB Root Hubs below that have similar checkboxes to Reset if you ever get a message that the Root Hub needs to be reset just for your own info. This is a common annoyance and is probably more due to the USB cable quality than the camera actually drawing more power. Feel free to repost if you have any other concerns. Steve Medley

The DMC-FZ20 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card, which fits into the slot but is electronically incompatible.
