Question about Compaq Creative Sound Blaster PCI 128 Sound Card

WAVE files play without sound!

I don't know if that's a problem caused by my Sound card (wich is ok i think) or any options or any .dll file.

Whenever i try to play a WAVE file exported from Guitar Pro 5 (at 16bit, 44000 Khz) and then try out in many Media Players, sound doesn't come out my nice speakers.

It's really frustrating.

Any help appreciated.

regular mp3's work fine? a way to see if your sound card supports wave output can be if you have winamp media player installed open it and go to settings/output and set it to wave and see if it will play any mp3's

I have a lexicon omaga drive but when i hook it up its like i need a 64 bit driver

Don't know what OS you're running. Omega has published drivers for Vista and 7 64-bit versions. They say they don't support XP 64, but when I hooked my unit up to my computer and the hardware install wizard came up the OS found and installed Microsoft published general USB audio device drivers for all inputs, midi, and mac USB channels of the Omega, and automatically set it as my default device. I hooked headphones into the Omega unit and could hear system sounds. So far so good. Went to My Music and fired up an audio file. Windows Media Player started up and the song started playing but I couldn't hear anything. Opened the same file with Audacity, could see the VU meters bouncing, but still no sound in my headphones. Went in to the preferences of Audacity, and manually set the speaker default to the Omega mac USB device. Hit play again and voila! I had sound. Closed the file, started WMP manually, went in to options, and again set the speaker default to Omega mac USB. Opened the same audio file and this time it played just fine. The driver files Windows used for my card were
C:\\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\ksproxy.ax, C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\ks.sys, C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\ksthunk.sys,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\portcls.sys,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\stream.sys,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\USBAUDIO.sys,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\ksproxy.ax,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\ksuser.dll,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\wdmaud.drv,
all version 5.2.3790.1830
Hope this helps everybody else with this problem.

Sytem files streamci files

Hi Coolkagz,

streamci is a .dll file. You can directly download the dll file from the following website.

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?streamci

There are two options available on the website, 1. premium and the 2. is free. The premium is a paid one so avoid it. :)

Many Dell PCs have an internal speaker that will allow sounds and even music to play - it is just not as good as the external types that offer sub woofers and stereo sound. As long as you're hearing the familiar Windows Sounds and not simple beeps - your sound card drivers are probably ok.

This makes me think that you've either inserted the speaker plug into the wrong jack on the PC or have an issue with the speakers themselves. Generally, these jacks are color coded. If yours are, make sure that speakers are connected to the GREEN jack. If not color coded there should be an indication of an arrow pointing OUT or a speaker icon near the speaker jack. If still no luck, it is possible that the cord between the plug and the speakers has gotten pinched or broken. Try plugging a pair oh head phones into the jack - or plug the speakers into another device with a speaker jack. I'm pretty sure you'll get your answer after doing that. Some final thoughts: Maybe your speakers need power? Are they plugged in? Is the outlet powered? Is there a power indicator? Is the volume knob turned to minimum?

If you still have problems - provide the model number of your Dell PC and we can dig some more - but I think you'll find the problem if you follow the steps above.

I hope this was Very Helpful - and good luck!

Media players do not play sounds

Ah yes, the bane of multimedia files and codecs. First thing you need to do is download Gspot. Drop the file into Gspot and identify exactly what the audio codec is. Once you do that, then you can download it. Careful though, you can get viruses or get otherwise currupted/inoperable codecs if you don't get the right ones.

Still no sound

Ok, it sounds as if your trying to install zipped files; you can't Remove your sound card, you should also dissable the onboard sound on your motherboard in the bios; if you have'nt already. Go back to the folder you downloaded(which will be a zipped folder for faster downloading and security). Right click on the folder as shown below and unzip using XP's unzipper. When it is unzipped this is the folder you make Windows look to for the installation. put your sound card back in and re boot. If this does not work it is the wrong .dll or ini installation file.

Actually I already tried that

Try another way around, right click your sound card in device manager and click update driver; forcing it to look wherever you have the setup.exe stored on your pc, the file you are using is probably not a manual setup, but has the required .ini or .dll file required for your card.
