Blue haze image

We love our tv until about 6 mos ago the lamp went out and we replaced it. About 2 months later our tv developed this blue hazey image at the bottom of the screen that is now continue to spread upward towards the middle of the screen. We called Sony for advice but ended up with little to no help at all. I'm at wits end, any solution or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

We have the same problem. We have had our tv for 4yrs and just changed the bulb. We now have a blue blob that started right side of the tv and has been spreading and the image is horrible. We hope to fix the problem and are looking for a solution. Any help is great!!

We have a blue hazy image at the bottom right as well. We've had it for about three years and it just appeared suddenly. Hope it's a cheap fix!

You have a bad optical block. there are companies that rebuild optical blocks for a nominal charge. Check out:

Sounds like the light engine is going bad...that's why they stopped making these rear projection sets using LCD's. Costs almost as much as a new set! But get a second opinion before trashing it.

I replaced the main lamp 6 months ago. Now I have blue on the right, yellow in the middle and normal color on the left. I also have a ghost image of tree branches on the whole screen.

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Found it here:http://www.discount-merchant.com/SONY-1-758-484-22-p/1180916.htm Have a blessed one!

Blue hue accross bottom of screen - Sony KF-50WE610

You can try doing this, turn on the Tv and select the service menu, if that tint also shows on the menu, it's most probable to be your DMD board, but if it doesn't it might be the video board..

I changed the LCD lamp, but there is still a yellow haze.

The yellow haze is the result of the blue polarizer burnt-in, you will find it sitting in front of the dlp chip.

Yellow and blue on screen

I am slightly confused about the model of the television, because a 46F500 is a rear projection set that doesn't have a lamp. It has 3 picture tubes and I have a few of them in my shop right now that have the problem you reported. What we do to this set when it develops a convergence issue is to check each resistor around the convergence chips for discoloration, and replace any of them that have changed in value, along with the STK392-150 ic's. If you don't have an ohm meter and solder/desolder equiptment, you can usually get a shop to do this repair for 150.00 to 350.00. Parts will be 50.00 and labor , the rest, depending on the quality of repair shop that you use. Good luck, Russmann.

Blue screen

It sounds like the high voltage distribution block but that is not the cause of your problems, the tuners you talk about are the picture tubes ,one for each color, the blue picture tube was arking and you got lucky and got 6 more months of use, it and might have corrected when you drop it but now is the red doing it and you need to do the same but it might not work this time, dont be surprise.Be carefull while trying things in the back, there are high voltages there and is not safe unless you are familiar with tv service.
