Question about Goodman GMS90703BXA Heater

The insulation used in the blower fan cabinet has fallen off

I have a GMS90904CXA Goodman heater in my attic space. It's a leftsided mounted install. The insulation in the blower fan cabinet has fallen off the cabinet wall. I would like to know what type adhesive should or can I use to reattach it. The insulation has the old adhesive dried up on it. I was thinking of using a heavy duty construction adhesive called "Liquid Nails" I was concern if it would hold up to the heat, if it was flamable, and would it adhere to the old adhesive. Thanks for your help

Use a silicon based adhesive. It will withstand higher heat.

I turn the thermastat to heat on my goodman gms90904cxa and the inducer fan does not come on and after a couple of seconds the lights blink 3 times

Hello, a 3 blink pattern indicates a open limit switch. Most of the time a dirty filter, dirty blower wheel, weak blower motor, can cause the limit switch to open.

I have a Goodman GMPN furnace and the motor that runs the twin blowers has quit. How do I take it out and replace it?

If you mean the blower wheel, I wonder how you diagnosed this problem so you were 100% sure the motor is bad. I recommend to make sure of the diagnosis before spending to buy parts.

The blower wheel is shaped like a twin blade. But it's only one wheel.

However, to answer the question; Step one is turn the power off.
Then; Find the blower housing in the lower compartment on an upflow configuration.
  • Remove 2 screws on the blower housing, on the upper inside of the blower compartment to slide the blower housing out.
  • Disconnect blower motor wiring at the harness and at the control board if connected. You can cut them if you have exact replacement motor and wire nuts.
  • Slide the housing out, turning it on the side that exposes the motor.
  • Remove the 3 mounting screws holding the motor to the housing.
  • Loosen the lock nut holding the fan blade (wheel) to motor shaft.
  • Slide motor and shaft out and away from the fan blade, as they are connected together and cannot be separated. Use penetrating oil SPARINGLY.
Installation is the reverse of the removal instructions.

IMPORTANT. Make sure to leave equal space between both sides of fan blade and housing when re-installing the wheel.

Luck to you. Let me know how that turns out.

Insulation stinks took out how do i get replacement

The easies solution is to use 1/2" duct board with the foil side towards the blower. Put it on with a HEAVY coating of spray adhesive on both the duct board and the surface you are mounting it to.

Call around to the wholesalers to find ductboard in your area.

I have a Goodman model #CAPF4860C6BA that is

It appears something is out of balance. No amount of additional foundation support will fix this out of balance situation. More foundation will just change the frequency of the noise and vibration you hear.

In my experience, you cant 'fix' a bent shaft. I would be curioius to learn how the shaft got bent to start with. Did an animal run head long into the running cage fan?

It could be that your fan has accumulated dirt because of improper air filtration and is now out of balance.

The cheapest fix for you in my opinion is replace the blower and motor. If you hire someone to rebalance (the fan), clean (the fan) straighten (the shaft), reinforce (the foundation), etc. you will receive little guarantee of satisfaction.

And another word of warning, don't let the service guy get ahead of you in the money department. I'd pay no more than 50% up front with 25% due after job is done and 25% due after one continuous month of successful operation. Change the %'s to suite your budget.

Check your air filter. The blower may be off balance or have dirt in some of the fins. Look on the blower wheel for a small tab of metal used to keep the blower in balance. It may have fallen off.
