Question about Motorola Mobility Bluetooth??¢ HF850 Car Kit Wireless Headset

11 Answers

On my HF850 poor volume using my Black Berry 8830 (world phone)

When the BB connects i cannot adjust volume on phone (and thereby in my volvo XC90). The volume is able to be adjusted on 8830 otherwise but not when paired with hf850. I have tried adjusting volume up (when call in progress) on hf850 but it is at max. Also tried to adjust default (when no call in progress) but no luck.

I cannot hear.

Worked fine on my moto egg.

Thanks drumbanger...volume limiter on the BB or hf850? I cannot locate on either.

  • gord_keith Dec 13, 2008

Sorry Fixe_U, can y9u be more specific. The only volume control on the hf850 is up on down when in a call. No audio profiles i can find in the BB menu.

  • gord_keith Dec 19, 2008

I had a suggestion to check BB phone settings. I am aware of these and made numerous ajdustments to no avail.
The last suggestion is to check with BB to see if there is a firmware upgrade. I will check but the solution does not seem very easy!

Still no luck to date. I am arranging to take vehicle back to dealer to have blue tooth unit replaced or repaired. just got my invoice from FixYa but have not heard a viable fix yet.

Just wanted to let everyone know or at least those inquiring minds concerned about the 8830 vibrate being to weak. RIM developers (my father works for RIM) as a SR. Java Developer and Q/A manager. They needed power for the SD module integrated into the back of the device and they had to sacrifice a few other things as well. I don't know if you guys know this but the 8830 prototypes had webcams and RIM scrapped the idea because of issues with device memory (not talking about space) im referring to device memory as in NVRAM and physical memory. The vibrate issue wont be fixed for another year until the next version of the phone. This sucks but in order for them to add the media components and extra storage the electrical engineers working for RIM had to move things around. RIM isnt going to admit this but it is the truth.

Regarding the volume issue for all 8830 (i have a sprint) my ringer issue actually only happened after the first time i installed an SD card in the back. If you remove the SD card and reset the device without the SD card and run the default ring tones you will notice they are louder. I'm sorry to say that both of these issues have nothing to do with the "firmware" for the device they are issues regarding voltage and the physical design of the circuits. If there are any electrical engineers on this forum they can verify this by simply reverse engineering the device.

Once again its all about poor engineering and not enough adequate voltage going to the hardware.

The may release an upgraded phone or the newer models may fix this issue.

Thats all I really know.

Go to profiles>advanced>edit.-----> now how to go to profiles ---------->Depending on theme running, there is a "speaker" icon. It is on the screen that shows all apps. Again depending on the theme, it might or might not be a "speaker" icon but it will show "Profiles" when highlighted.---------------->there you profile set to "loud", change the volume level.also  try to use the master volume on the side of the phone when  it's ringing with an incoming call, . ---------------> keep in mind that ----->You need to go to your profiles. Select Advanced>Edit>Loud. Change the volume of your ringer in there.------------->if this still does not helps-------------->If you know how to get to your profile menu, please do so and open it. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select Advanced. Click on it. Now. You should see a list of profiles: Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, Phone Only, and Off. Hover over the LOUD profile, click your menu button, and select Edit. Scroll down and select Phone. Set your volume to High. If you do not want your phone to vibrate before it rings, select Tone at the top instead of Vibrate+Tone. ========================= if all this does not helps then  click on this link below How to edit a PROFILE & set NOTIFICATION

Its proberally a security feature in the phone or an bug in the firmware. You should contact the manufacturer or dealer requesting information on this.

All i can suggest is that you try to update the firmware on the phone. Ususally when the company discovers an error the release a new firmware to correct the problems. Go to the manufactures web page and search the firmware update for your model. (its free and contains everything needed including instructions on how to do it).
If it aint the firmware the only other problem i can think off is a hardware error it self, in this case you will need to have a local dealer have a look at the phone. My best guess is its the firmware.

    Try also the following fix:

"1. From main menu, select "Profiles" (icon looks like a speaker)

    2. In Profiles, select "Advanced"

    3. Select "Loud" profile

    4. Select "Phone" from list

    5. Under "Out of Holster", select "Volume" (which is probably set at "Medium" from factory) and change to "High"

    6. Repeat Step 5 above for "In Holster" volume setting.

    7. Press Blackberry "Menu" key and select "Save".

How do I pair the h7oo witt the bb 8830

Depending on the phone... try and remove the current bluetooth device. Go to the Manage connection app and choose blue tooth. Or go to options, Bluetooth. you will then see what is or isnt connected. Close the headset. Go to the phone and choose discover, or search. Open the headset and press and hold the big button. It should then turn purple and should be recognized. After this, it will ask for a passcode.

Also make sure the battery on theheadset is charged before doing this.

The passkey will be 0000, four zeros.

Can't connect bluetooth jabra vbt185z to black berry

Go to this site, and it will walk you through each step to connect your particular Jabra headset with your cellphone. Choose the headset, and then at the next page, choose your phone. Moving your mouse over each step will change the picture to what you should be seeing on your phone at each step.

Motorola handsfree kit

these kits are not very good and they are old, you are also unable to update software to work with new phones and the mic quality is poor.
go to your paired devices on your phones and change the hf850 to not connect automatically on both the phones, this may work.
If you can get a full refund and only pay the difference for a parrot it will be worth it. Also look at the THB Bury kit.

HF850 pairs with my Ericsson TM506 phone, but can't voice dial

The TM506 (also known as Bella) must support the Bluetooth Handsfree 0.96 profiling.

The HF850 supports Bluetooth Headshet v1.1, v1.2 and Handsfree 0.96 protocol.

Unless you can find otherwise, the TM506 doesn't support Bluetooth 0.96 Profiles. It is my understanding that on the TM506 you must program your voice commands and I understand that to be different.

Nonetheless, the TM506 works very well and seamlessly (other than voice dialing) with the HF850.

Wont' pair with BB 8830

I had the same problem. Here is what you do:
When your headset is off push the multifunction (on/off) button and keep it pressed until the blue light turns solid blue (i.e. is not blinking). Now you can pair it and your BB will detect it. If you do not wait until the light remains lit it will not happen. Unfortunately this point is not well emphasized in the instructions of use for the device.
