Question about Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router
After about 4 years of everything working, today I couldn't get the internet,or my email (very slow, would be blank page) When I attached ethernet cable directly to computer by passing the router it worked fine. How do I change settings or what ever i need to do to get the router working again? Naturally, I can't find any of the stuff that came with the router four years ago. I want my wireless back, so I can get out of this small dank room with the desktop!
The easiest method is to reset your Linksys router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset. Try to get online wirelessly.
If you can get back on via the wireless, then set up your security.
Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models). Go to the wireless tab, input a SSID (name of network) Hit apply. Then go back to th wireless tab, then security and set your encryption key there. hit apply.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
