Sunbeam electric blanket flashes FF. How do I get it to stop?

  • Zeusest Dec 29, 2008

So do I... How do you fix it? The blanket does NOT get warm when it flashes. And, it's out of warranty. What do I do?

Same problem here. I have a King size model with two controls that I bougth from Costco. Only one of the controls, i.e. only one side, stopped working and is displaying the FF.

Mine does the same thing. Won't work at all. This is really crappy considering it's 3 degrees outside and my house doesn't hold heat well in the winter.

Same problem - both control pads flash FF.  No changes despite being left unplugged for a month.

Ok folks. I fixed it. I unplugged and then waited and replugged and started at high or 9 and then it went to FF in 60minutes or a couple of minutes. I scratched my head and tried this fix--instead of starting again at 9 or H I started at level 7. That did it. FF most probably indicates excess current, and the H or 9 probably is too high to set. So unplug -repluf-turn on and dial 7 or lower. It should fix it. Or buy a new one.

I came here with the same problem but after finding no answers I checked the connection to the blanket and discovered that mine is unplugged! Check your connections and while you are at it make sure the wires aren't pinched or tucked under the mattress ( not an expected cause but things to be avoided for safety's sake). See if you have a bad connection or even mismatched controls.

I also tried pushing and holding the on/off switches, both at the same time, for 3-5 seconds. It worked!

The FF may be an indication that the heating element has failed.

The 2 controls to our electric blanket are flashing "FF". What does that mean, plus there's no heat at all from it.

With the Sunbeam blankets that I have owned, FF meant that there was a bad connection somewhere. Have you tried the unplugging and replugging the Controller cord back into the blanket? Make sure it is plugged in GOOD AND TIGHT. If that part is connected as tightly as it can go, you may have a defective element.

Electric blanket flashing f won't stop sunbeam

Hello vinrocof - Please try resetting the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and turn the unit back on. Try setting the time and if it proves to be ineffective, the unit may possibly have a faulty EOC, defective wiring harness or damaged cord. I would suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately.

I bought a queen dual control warming blanket . I barely used it the first time I bought it a year ago. I put it into my closet for storage after the first winter. I put it on the bed today getting ready...

The flashing lights usually means theres a problem and the blanket has shut itself off so it wont cause a problem...Like burn down your house.

I love electric blankets but I have had little luck with them. Its only a matter of time before they get like this. I have never gotten one to work again after it has started to blink.

If you still have the box maybe there is a warranty.

My husband and i were just recently given the queen size, dual remote heating blanket from you guys. When we try to turn on either of our remotes, it flashes F2 consistently unless unplugged. Is there...

The first link has some info about the F2 code.Apparently it used to be seen as FF but was changed. It is a power problem. It is still the same problem, which is REALLY not good. The next couple of links are forums which people also have the same problem as you.I would seriously get rid of that blanket.I saw someone mention EMF.I know exactly what EMF is and it is not an issue with this blanket at all,and is present in many things.A microwave probably has more, and still is not an issue.Anything that plugs into a wall has some form of EMF present,so do not even worry about it.

My Sunbeam electric blanket controls blink when I plug the control cable into the blanket. I cannot turn the controls on or off.

Same problem, but now it is ok.  I emailed Sunbeam and was told that if my blanket was not plugged directly into a wall outlet it was not getting enough power and I needed to plug it into a wall outlet taking these steps:
1) Unplug from the surge protector/extension cord 2) Unplug from the blanket 3) Plug back into the blanket 4) Plug into a wall outlet

Electric blanket error code

My new blanket works great. Then I changed my sheets and would get the F2 problem. Very consistent after 5 tries with F2 blinking by unplugging at wall outlet and comes on with F2 blinking. Let it rest a night and still the same.

Then I unplug it at the blanket. Hmm, notice a pin was lower than the others. PUSH BACK IN FIRM and tried again. Perfect.
