It take a long time for my gas range to pre-heat

It takes over 30 minutes for my frigidaire gas range to pre-heat, It appears that everything is ok other than the amount of time it takes to pre-heat. What do you think is wrong?

For example At 5pm we set the oven at 400 and now at 6pm it is still pre-heating.

I have checked the burner, its clean and has a distinct blue flame. The broiler works great.

its obvious the oven is reaching the desired temp. but it doesn't know its at the desired temp!! does that help clarify the problem?

This would be helpful information if the oven wont heat properly, but if you read my comments when I tried to clarify whats going on you would understand its not a temp issue. It's more like a issue of communication from a thermostat or sensor to the oven display.

Although the display indicates it's pre-heating the oven is at the desired temp. long before the oven display acknowledges.

  • which temperature are you pre heating the oven.

The oven flame seems to be to low, that flame most be at least 2 inches long. not counting the sides of flame from one side of the burner to the other, but from where the flame begins at the metal of the burner.

  • the oven has a orifice that can be open in side the oven, where the burner sits on the jet goes inside of the burner about half inch turn that jet counter clockwise, turn it a half a turn with the oven off and then try the oven and see if flame when any bigger, if not turn another half

Hello Debbie - Sounds like the unit has loss some of its heat inside of the oven cavity. This means it cannot reach the proper preheat temperature in the programmed 30 minute timeframe. A technician would be required to further diagnose this concern. They would most likely assess the convection heating element, thermal cutout, thermal oven sensor and all wired connections for repairs. Lastly the oven cavity and insulation should be checked to ensure there are no gaps or damages that will leak out the heat. At t his time, I would recommend contacting a professional to assist you further.

My Frigidaire electric oven only heats up to 100 degrees. Please help?

Contact a technician. The ignition and gas valves should allow the unit to preheat and then reach needed temperature within about 30 minutes, at the most.

Oven takes a very long time to heat.

Do your burners work ok when the oven is on? if not you may have low supply pressure to your range or the regulator may be limiting the gas flow. Also, I have a wolf gas range and it takes 30 minutes to heat to 350 as well, haven't timed it to 400. Has it always taken that long? Another thing to check is the door seal. If its not sealing it could cause a long preheat. If the door seal is smashed flat and/or not soft it needs replaced. Hope this helps.
