Do you use your D drive or is it one you just noticed? It looks like C is your boot drive and D may be a recovery partition put there by HP. If you don't use it then don't worry about it unless you want to restore your computer to the factory settings.

Hp recovery D drive full

then you have SOME software on you PC that is writing to the D-drive and it SHOULD NOT BE !!

I've seen the "windows backup" do this by "default" if the user turns it "on" but does not configure it properly. If that is the case here, you need to either turn the automatic-backup OFF, or redirect it to a different source....like an External Hard Drive.

What personal media drive will fit the HP m 1190n media bay. Will any fit or are they part number specific? Thank you

Not sure what you mean by personal media player.

1) If its an Ipod or any MP3 player, you should be able to connect any via a USB cable, or directly plugged in.

2) if you mean CD or DVD drive/player like the one that came with it, they're generic, any with the correct interface (IDE or SATA) Though I think SATA in this case.

Here's a URL with the full specification of your system to help:-

http://www.shopping.hp.com/shopping/data_sheet/pj467aa.htm

If you mean the "personal media bay" listed here, I think were back to a generice CD/DVD drive.

My d recovery says it is full and i keep getting error messages, have tried to backup what do i do

the d drive is usually small and becomes full if by mistake a back up was run and it tried to save data on the d: drive.

Please refer to the below link to be able to get rid of the issue completely.

HP Compaq d530 CMT Desktop Freezes after a while

Is it like that before? If not then probably, a failing component, a short, most likely RAM card (when you happened to check its rated capacity getting low), connection problem.

Also, too much running applications at the same time, hard drive getting almost full, virus. Or borderline hardware specification for installed application.

Check the easiest first. Is this virus? is hard drive getting full? Borderline specification? Add on card contact dirty? Ailing component?

hope it helps

Drive not recognized under Vista Home Premium 64-bit

I have seen drives not recognized for a few reasons. Bad drives, drives not jumpered correctly or full-disk encryption was used on them. Here are my thoughts:
Try making sure that the drive is jumpered to Master. Should be a jumper on the back of the drive.
Make sure you did not encrypt the hard drive using full disk encryption.
I use an USB IDE drive enclosure when recovering customer's data using a Vista computer and have not had any issues other than the ones mentioned above.
Let us know if this helps or what you find out.

One drive is small and full... how do i combine it with the other

you can use a program like Acronis to make an image of the 18 GB drive and copy it to the 280 gb drive, then just remove the 18 GB drive.

You can download acronis from www.download.com

Brought computer an memory is full

Memory cannot be "full", Hard Disk space can be full. Is this what you are referring to? To free up more memory you can shut down some programs, you can also uninstall programs and delete files to free up more hard disk space. Or buy a new hard drive.

C Drive

There are 2 reasons for this. Either your drive is really full or it could be a filesystem glitch.

I would recommend a free program called "Space Monger" to give you a visual representation on what is filling up your hard drive.

If it is a filesystem problem, you need to run chkdsk. I recommend this periodically even when you are not having problems. Go to Start, Run, type in "cmd" and hit OK, type in "chkdsk C: /r /f" and hit enter on the keyboard to run a full hard drive check. This will require you to reboot your computer. Sit back, that will take a little while.

Hope this helps!

I have an hp laptop. i frequently get messages saying my recovery drive is full. how do i erase files from recovery

Right click your recovery drive and click "format". A dialog box will appear, if the "quick format" box is checked, un-check it, which will do a full format.
