Question about Philips HDD1630 MP3 Player

MY PHILIPS 30GB DOESN'T RECOGNIZE MY SONGS!

Last night when I turned off my mp3 player, everything was FINE. Now this morning when I turned it on, NONE of my music could be found, no artists, no playlists, no nothing. All of my music IS in the right format - WMA or MP3 - so I KNOW that isn't the issue. And ALL my music is still on the drive because when I looked in the folders, ALL my 1300+ songs were there ... but for SOME reason, the Philips isn't recognizing or pulling up my songs right. They show up when I connect it to my computer but once I disconnect, it's as if I have NO songs loaded onto it. HELP please, I am SO stuck and I cried out of frustration because I have NO idea how to fix this. ;-;

You should try to repair the player using Philips Device Manager. The procedure that you should do is described detailed step by step at the manufacturer's web site:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=BE&slg=ENG&sct=PORTABLE_VIDEO_PLAYERS_SU&cat=MP3_AND_MEDIA_PLAYERS_CA&grp=SOUND_AND_VISION_GR&session=20100703194931_66.249.65.15&ctn=SA3125/02&list=aa12_list_partial.html&mid=Link_DiagnosticInformationTool&hlt=Link_DiagnosticInformationTool

At first select the category "communication with the PC" and follow the instructions you get there.
Finally you will get to the state "repair function" and you will be able to hope successful action.
Good luck!

Can't download songs and videos on the mp3 player.

The songs have to be in the right format. Philips does not recognize iTunes. Some Philips players recognize DRM-encrypted WMA's and some do not. If you download songs from a service that offers Mp3 format only, you will never have a problem. Use Windows Media Player to transfer the songs once they are downloaded from the music service.

Help with mp3

If it doesn't work when unplugged and fully charged, that problem is not going to go away. You can do the Repair in Philips Device Manager, but it will erase all of your songs and it probably will not work. The problem is, Philips is all out of these players, and they no longer make any 30GB models - 8GB is the max.

my guess would be that your mp3 may not be as compatible with the sound system as you thought, hmm... has your mp3 ever did anything like this before or even screw up atleast once?

My philips 30gb wont play my songs!!!

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
