Question about Magellan RoadMate 700 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Does not clear prior destination

When I route to new destination, screen sticks on prior destination for some time. Eventually it will re-calculate. Seems as those of options "Least use of freeways, etc." don't work properly. Will it help to upgrade new maps? Thanks

Re: Does not clear prior destination

This seems to be just a software problem, re-installing the software should fix it. Before that though, try resetting user data. At user menu, press "-" zoom out and repeat button at same time. select reset user data, it will reboot automatically, then check to see if it is any better. If not, hopefully the software came with your unit and you can re-install it. Good luck and let me know if you need help with the installation. thanks, Daniel

My Gamin Nuvi can't unlock maps

Use a Garmin 1450

The Garmin Nuvi 1450 can be used while driving or walking.

While driving, use the Nuvi 1450 to create a route to your destination and get step-by-step directions, to hear the names of upcoming streets, to tell you when to change lanes and to find out the speed limits on unfamiliar streets.

As a pedestrian, you can have the Nuvi 1450 create a route for you that uses a mixture of walking and public transportation, such as the subway or bus system, if you have purchased cityXplorer maps for that area.

Tap "Where to?" to set up a route. The "Where to?" icon is a large magnifying glass.

Tap "Addresses." The available categories are address, points of interest, go home, recently found, favorites and intersections.

Input the name of the state or county, if it is out of town.

Then tap "Spell city." Spell out the name of the city using the pop up keyboard.

Press "Done."

Enter the address number and press "Done."

Then enter the street name and press "Done."

The "Go" screen opens automatically.

Tap the green "Go" button. The Nuvi 1450 will now calculate a route to the address.

Follow the voice prompts and map highlight to your destination.

Navigate Using Coordinates

Tap "Where to?" and then tap "Coordinates."

Tap the coordinate you want to adjust/input a new coordinate.

Tap "Format" to choose the right coordinate format for the map you are using.

Enter the coordinates. Tap "Next."

Tap the green "Go" button to calculate a route.

Use the Map Page

Navigate to your destination by following the voice prompts, highlighted route on the map and directions located at the top of the map screen.
Tap the "turn" icon located in the upper left corner of the screen to see the next turn. It may have a turning or straight arrow and the number of miles until the turn. Tap the bar across the top with the next direction listed on it to see a list of all directions.

Tap the plus or minus signs on the right side of the screen to zoom in or out.

Press the spinning arrow in the lower left corner of the screen to return to the main menu.

Tap the "car" icon traveling along the highlighted route to enter the "Where Am I?" screen and get your exact location, coordinates and nearby emergency services.

Hope this helps

Want to know how to put way point in my etres gamain gps

Adding a Waypoint is not to difficult. You would first of all choose Where To? on the main menu, and then input your main destination. Once the GPS unit has finished calculating your route and ask you to follow the given route, you would then go back to the Main Menu screen and choose Where To? again. You would then input the Waypoint using Favorites, or whichever method you prefer to use. Once the GPS has accepted the destination, and it displays the screen with the large GO button, you would press GO. The next screen should ask you if you want to add this location a a New Destination, or to Add as a Via Point. You would then choose Via Point.

Nuvi 255w stuck on Calculating 99% when a new destination is picked. Switched off and back on , still no luck. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Disabling the avoidances resolve this issue. To remove Avoidances - Tools -> Settings ->Navigation -> Avoidances -> Enabled and uncheck all.

Just brought tomtom start. will it give me more than one route to any given destination?

There are settings in the GPS that allow you to pick what type of routes you want to have the unit pick for you. They can be based on time, distance, or least fuel used. You can also do the following: if you know at least part of the route to your destination, and the GPS doesn't pick the particular way you prefer you can just start driving off route. The GPS will realize that you are off route and it will recalculate itself. You can also add "Way Points" to your route that would force the GPS to calculate the route to the way you want it to go.

Deleaying directions

I am not sure exactly what your problem is as you don't give much detail but I assume you are having problems with your TomTom continuing to give directions to some destination you already went to.

To stop previous directions :
  • Tap the screen
  • Move Right through the pages available until you see Icon for "Clear Route"
  • Select " Clear Route " and the directions should stop
  • Remember , each time you use your TomTom to go to a new destination once you have got there you will need to clear the route ( as above ) in order to stop your TomTom trying to take you there again.
Good Luck

Garmin nuvi 200 route calculation problem

Sounds like a major software failure. . .

Hold a finger on the upper right corner of the screen while powering up the unit. This should do a master reset.

The go here to download an update.
