Printer was knocked off the desk by my cat. Now the printer port is loose and disconnected inside the printer housing. How do you remove the side of the case with all the controls?
There's one screw for that side of the case and a tab that to keep it in place. I removed the screw but that side is still connected somehow... perhaps more hidden tabs. Cannot find a service manual online.
Any help is appreciated.

The solution to this problem is as simple as disconnecting your printer, going into CONTROL PANEL / PRINTERS AND SCANNERS, right click on the icon for your laser printer, then select "remove." Once you have removed the printer in the Control Panel, plug the printer back into your USB port, power it on, and it should plug & play from there.
Sometime USB PRT they reinstall a new PRT with a new usb port. Check if you have a new entry w same prt name+ copy n inside your Control panel "Printer and faxes "applet. Select the new Prt (with latest Copy N number) as Default printer and let me know if it's working.
You should be able to use this printer with a USB cable. You can pick up a USB cable just about anywhere that they sell computer or printer equipment. Just tell them you need a USB printer cable. This is a standard item and no further description is needed.
The Driver for this will probably be a native driver, and you probably wont have to download a new one, but just in case, here is the link for the driver directly from HP.
You will have to take the printer apart and re-solder the usb connector to the board. it was jerked out likely by moving the printer while it was attached to the cored or was tripped on. it may not be an easy job to fix as you have to have several tools and soldering skills, you need a electronics nerd to help.
