There is a hissing noise coming from my phone that disappears when I lift up the handset. If I hang up the phone the hissing noise (static noise) comes back

Find the command for background music and turn it off.

In a DS system, it's done by pressing HOLD while the phone is idle and HOLD again to turn it back on. Your instructions may be different.

Hold music was put on phones, and the hold music all of a sudden started playing thru the speaker of an alternate phone. unable to turn it off

If this happens to be a Panasonic system, try pressing "1" on the keypad without picking up the handset.

How to change the hold music on the panasonic kx

Back in a closet or electrical room, there's a back and blue cabinet with all the wires coming into it. That's the phone system cabinet. Your Music is plugged into a port labeled MOH.

When you get to that, it will be some sort of MOH player. Post back when you find it. If it's an On-hold product, there's a software program to change it.

I have lost my LCD display, the numbers are disappearing from the screen. Is there something I can do to get them back, I love my phone but am not happen without the CID

Check the backup battery in the phone... it may be located on the bottom of the case, or under the reciever cradle.
If there is a power adapter, check that it's connected and it's stil providing power to the phone.

People can hear me speak but I can't hear them

Sound inducers do go bad. Normal the same audio amplifier is used for both the ear piece and the speaker. Since the speak does work, it sounds like the ear piece has died.

Programming music on hold

Music on hold comes from a MOH source and is plugged into the cabinet on the MOH port :-)

Your ACS module has an RCA jack for the music input. You get a source, like a music on hold player

Or, you can just plug in a CD player or radio. The Intellitouch unit comes with a program called Message Studio and lets you record your own messages or mix your own music (they also provide royalty free tracks) to generic "Thank you for holding" messages.

There is an Australian company that sells you a mini production studion that runs on a PC. It's a bit of an overkill for the average user, but we still do that for messages that need to be scheduled.

Anyway, a long winded answer but I hope this helps.
