One walkie not transmitting

One is both transmitting and receiving, the other only receiving. I've been thru all the settings and they appear to be set correctly and the same. Ideas? And also the charger doesn't light up. They are a year old, but never used and both batteries are previously fully charged and still showing ample charge.

Swap batteries between the radios and see if the problem moves to the other radio.

If your charger does not light up, it is not working. So your battery may not be getting fully charged. The first sign of a poorly charged, or bad battery is no transmit.

If these do not solve the problem, and your settings are identical, you may have a faulty radio. Double check your settings, and take them back to their simpliest form, shut off any special features and make your PL code be off or zero. Then try the radios, if they still don't work, you have one radio which is bad.

best regards.

SOURCE: low battery icon on Midland LXT350 walkie-talkies

Your LXT350 is equipped for using an optional rechargeable NiMH battery pack which can be recharged by inserting the AC adapter into the radio charge jack, or with the optional desktop charger.

I would make sure the radio is off, then insert the charger. Charge only for the prescribed time (no more/no less) and remove from the charger.

Charge time is initially 24 hours. Charge time is about 12 hours thereafter. For maximum battery life, it is recommend charging the battery pack when the low battery icon comes on. Remove the radios from the charger when the charge time expires.

SOURCE: Motorola Talkabout FV700 not transmitting nor receiving

To troubleshoot: Unlock your keypad lock, then reprogram your radios to the following settings. (Check function after each change)
1) Shut off the Interference Eliminator (set to zero).
2) Turn off the Qt filter.
3) Vox setting to off.

By shutting off all the "bells and whistles" of the radio, you will take it back to being just simply on a frequency. If your radios do not communicate with one another then, or with your friend's radios, you have radio which is failing to operate.

If the radios do work in this simple mode. One by one add the special features back until you discover the culprit.

If the icon you are referring to is a little radio picture, this would indicate the radio is in transmit mode. This possibly could be due to being in VOX mode, or Baby Monitor mode, or it simply could indicate their is a problem with the radio. Problems might include: sticky PTT button, an audio device being plugged into the accessory jack while the radio is still turned on, debris in the jack, or a damaged jack.

I have a set of Motorola T5720 walkie Talkies. I cannot determine if one of them is not receiving or the other is not transmitting.

One radio works properly, the other can receive. I assume there are more than two by the question. Check and then rotate you batteries, mark on the working unit battery that it is GOOD. Transmit takes a great deal more power than receiving. Batteries, even un-used only last 18-24 months typically. If no joy, then check your programming but I think that is unlikely. It really sounds like a power/battery issue.

I have a pair of wrist watch freetalker walkie talkie. One works fine, calls the other and transmits perfectly well. The other however does not appear to join in. It receives the voice message from the...

Odd that it calls itself. I suspect a weak battery on the no transmit unit. Radios require a lot of power to transmit and little to receive. Even if the charger says charged, it is more often the battery than not. If you have the walkie hooked up to the transformer and try talking on it (not recommended) it still could be the battery. Other issues: liquid damage, dropped, etc.

My uniden UH3O5sx is always stuck on receive (rx is always showing) can receive but not transmit

Set up your privacy tones or adjust the squelch level to stop the static and bring the handy out of receive mode. Some models have a busy channel lock out, that if it beleives it hears something it will not let you transmit over the other station.

Don't know your capabilities but if it were me I would open the phone and check the contacts for transmit button. Sometimes contacts get corroded and need cleaning or it just may be no connection at all and a adjustment of the contacts will resolve the issue.

Motorola XTR 446 talkie walkie is not receiving

Try programming the radios without an eliminator code and see if they work together then. If so, there is something wrong with the eliminator code portion of the radio. Also, check your batteries, switch batteries between the units and see if the problem moves to the other unit. It takes more energy to transmit than receive, so a bad or very weak battery could exhibit a similar problem. The radio icon will illuminate whenever a radio is transmitting or receiving. When the radio is in standby mode, the icon should not be shown. Your radio with the icon on all the time may be stuck in transmit. Check your PTT button to see if it is slightly stuck or depressed. The ACTUAL problem is your rechargeable batteries have most likely depleted over time, and since it takes more batterie power to transmit than to receive it can appear that your batteries are fully charged and you can be receiving but due to the batterie it will be unable to transmit

Generally when a radio shuts off when you press the PTT button it is a sign of a bad or poorly charged battery. It takes more energy to transmit than to receive. The fact you have a charge which the light does not come on indicates you have a bad charger or bad connection between the radio and/or battery and the charger. Clean your battery contacts (on both radio and charger) with a pencil eraser and see if it clears up the problem. If not, you have either a battery or charger problem.

Can Receive but not Transmit

1) Double check your interference code eliminator and the Qt filter. Make certain they are all set identical.

2) If you are still having trouble, shut off the Qt filter.

3) Then if you still have trouble shut off the code. (Off is sometimes "zero" or "n" for no.)

4) If the above steps do not help you have either a defective radio, or a bad battery. Switch the batteries out of the working units to the non-working and see if the problem switches to the other units. If so, replace the battery packs. (Note: it takes more battery power to transmit, so the problem would first show up in the transmit area.)

Best regards.
