I have downloaded the driver that came with the printer, and one from the net, but it still won't print. I checked the port--o.k. I removed the printer and put it back on the system--same result. It has power--green light on. Have tried all the troubleshooting steps--no results.

I have an HP 9800 Deskjet that I print heavier self stick vinyl paper. The print comes out wavy. Lines aren't strait and images get blurred. Seems like the rollers might be worn causing it not to pull paper in right and centered.
do the normal copies of microsoft worf comes out properly without any spitting.then its the setting problem in your printer .you can change the settings through printer properties --just adjust the photo settings in your printer and it will print the photos.
but if the word document are also having the same problem its the printer problem get the replacement as the printer is new.
2 possible solutions. 1 The paper itself. Check that the paper tray is not overfull. this can cause multiple sheets to feed through. Also make sure that you use good quality paper suitable for the particular type of printer. Always keep the paper dry Damp (not wet) paper will also cause the sort of problem you describe. another good reason for not keeping to much paper in the paper tray. Paper will keep better in the packet than in the tray. Always store the paper in the packet in a warm dry place. I keep mine near a radiator and away from the Air con.
2. The printer driver. Download the latest driver for your printer from the manufacturer and update the printer driver, via the control panel/printers. If you don't know how to do this you can simply uninstall the printer and then install it again using the new printer driver.
What program are you trying to print from? and where are you selecting the paper size from? Make sure 4x6 is selected in the kodak driver and 4x6 is selected in the page set options in your program. Other wise you may need to download new software and firmware from the Kodak Site.
These printers usually determine whether paper is loaded by using a simple sensor with a small plastic arm. The paper lifts the arm (or pushes it down, depending on the design) when it is put into the printer. Take the paper out and look for that plastic arm - if it's broken, or the spring that holds it in place has come loose, that's the culprit.
If that's not the problem, then it's probably going to be something you can't fix yourself. In that case, replacement is usually cheaper than repair for most inkjet based printers.
