Black marks on clothes

For the last few washes I have been getting black stains on my clothes. I found some greasy black lumps in the wash which I can only liken to black shoe polish. The marks need to be scrubbed out with a stain remover as re-washing makes no difference. Please help.

My wife complained that we were having similar problems recently. After investigation I located the remains of a pen entering the filter and removed this and did a few empty boil washes to remove any remains of ink and this worked for us. Check the filter and hose between the drum and filter.

OIL STAIN ON A CLOTHES out of washing machine E12477

Are they getting the oil stain from the washing machine? If so, you need to get a tech out to inspect your washing machine. If you are putting oily clothes into the washing machine hoping it will come out, it's too late, you need to pre-wash with Shout or Tide to remove oils and grease. The more you wash and dry it the deeper the stain will set. Sounds like you need to throw those clothes away.

Stains on clothes after washing. Appears to possibly be oil residue. Is there a rubber seal or part that may be leaking inside the drum?

This could be a couple of things
1....oil from the transmission.
this is not common so lets leave this one
2.....the use of fabric softener causes greasy marks on clothing after a while
Fabric softener reacts with soap and can form a greasy jell. it can be yellow oily color or black.
You will know if you have been using fabric softener.
Stop using it straight away.
To clean oty the machine if it were mine I would put a packet of epson salts in with hot water and let the comp[lete cycly go.
Foe awhile use the machine with caution as this may release build up of grease which can stain further clothing until it is all gone.
The make and model of the washer is needed for an accurate diagnosis.

Dark greasy stains after washing

When the seal starts to fail, this oil floats up into the wash water
in the form of small black drops. The stains are almost impossible
to remove from clothing. Also, as the oil is leaking up, hot soapy
water is leaking down into the transmission, which will eventually
cause it to fail.

The seal wont be difficult to replace, but to get access to it you have to
basically disassemble the whole machine. The hardest part was pulling the agitator off the shaft - I
use a slide hammer puller. I'd start by pulling the agitator off and
see if you can access the transmission seal that way - perhaps yours
will be easier than mine was.

What will cause black grease stains on clothes in a GE washer, when the clothes are not greasy going in. Agitator seems a little loose.

It maybe a bit of grease worked it's way down inside the agitator, check if there is a way to "torque" down the device.

Washer is leaving grease all over my clothes

I have this problem on my front loading washer too, but only when washing white clothes. I have just read that perhaps the inlet hose is disintegrating from the hot water being too hot. The hose disintergration can cause black greasy stains on the clothes. I am going to check out the inlet hose when I get home. Hopefully this is the problem... I am sure a new inlet hose is a lot cheaper than a new transmission or new bearings. BTW, my washer in only 18 months old.

Oil spots on clothes

HI Friend,
First of all relax alright, you are in safe hands.
See every washing machine has a turbine at the bottom f the washing bowl and below that there is a motor. And there wud be a safety valve or (washer ) which basically looks like a ring made out rubber or plastic and when this ring gets outdated or torn it stops controlling the oil flow and thats the reason y ur clothes have the oil stains ,so once it is replaced you will not have this issue.
This would surely help you in getting the clothes clean and tidy.!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And please rate me so that I can improve myself(vote).

My Washing machine stains clothes; they come out with brown rusty stains. Otherwise the washing machine works fine. my washing machine is lessthen three years old and always give brown stains in white...

I had the same problem, and it turns out that it is NOT the seal. It is the liquid fabric softener. The fabric softener dispenser needs to be cleaned periodically or it gets a black waxy, goopy, build up. It is this same buildup that ends up staining your clothes with dark brown or black stains. Just remove the dispenser and wash it our very well and the problem will be gone.

Black marks on clothes

Use your tub clean feature and throw in some affresh www.affresh.com to see it that will clean out your unit. Check your button trap to see if anything is there. Insure you use HE branded detergent and cut back detergent and on your fabric softener, only tablespoon or 2 will do. Only use enough to satisfy your requirements and you will save money in the process.
With your roller balls, you can check it out, use a phillips screwdriver. On the baffle itself there is one screw and then it slide out. Maybe something is caught there.
I can't think of anything else that might be causing it. One thing, do you notice it on the clothes when you take them from the washer, or from the dryer. If it is when they are dry, check the felt inside your dryer, they have been known to get black and transfer onto the clothes. Sometimes they put too much grease in there or it could be from the rollers in the dryer as well.

Black particles in clothes after using a top loading samsung fully automatic washing machine

You said these particles stick to the clothes, do they come off and then leave a stain? It may be grease or oil coming from a leaking drum bearing seal.
If it is, This is a major repair and not one for DIY.
