Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I bought a Whirlpool Washing Machine, Dryer, and Refridgerator from an American base in England. They have a German plug but the lady at the time said I could use them when I return to America. It is now 11 months later and I have returned to America. No one in the area I live in seems to know what I am supposed to do to use these appliances in America. HELP PLEASE!!!!

Thank you for your assistance. What if it is not the same voltage and where would I find that information?

Assuming the voltage is the same, you can buy "international wall outlet plug adaptors" in most major cities as well as near most major military bases (because service members routinely return with products from overseas). Simply check your phone directory and/or the internet for "international wall outlet plug adaptors". Also, outlets such as Radio Shack and Brookstone often stock such items.

On Whirlpool duet steam front loading DRYER...What does the error code F70 mean?Do you have to have a certified whirlpool appliance service professional to repair?

F70 code says...
Replace the machine control electronics. You should first unplug the machine and then remove and plug back in all connectors on the front panel model as well as the electronic control module.

If that doesn't take care of the problem then it may be time to consider replacing the rear board. The FSP # 8183259

The control board is part # 14 in the link below.

Washing Machine won't stay balanced

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

If you look at the section on "Machine Base Parts" you'll see a number of springs and vibration pads.

It's possible that one or more of the springs or pads has come loose or broken.

In order to get to them you have to remove the cabinet.

Here is a description of how to do it.

Also see the Whirlpool Service Manual for top load washers. It has a troubleshooting section that describes the reasons for excessive walking or vibration.

If this is a basic Whirlpool / Kenmore top load, direct drive washer, you CAN fix it yourself.

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool belt drive washer.

See the following illustrated instructions for replacing the belt.
