Water frezzing up before it gets to the ice maker

I'm having a similar problem. Water freezes in the mold, but thermostat does not heat ice to release ice from mold. I replaced the thermostat and still did not work. I just noticed the plastic around the copper line that touches the mold prongs is melted. I guess it shorted out. You may have the same problem. Time to buy a new ice maker even thought the frig is only 1.5 years old.

in the ice maker there is a series of small pipes about an inch long emersed in a tray of water,the gas flows throught these pipes frezzing the water making the ice and thats why its hollow in the middle

mrs. justice u should have a setting knob that says freezer colder and by adjusting that knob a little making the frezzer colder so the ice frezzes faster. the faster it frezzes the faster it will dump making more ice. but if that dont work then that box should be equiped to have the more up to date one that has a fan in the ice maker that makes it colder and makes ice faster.. remeber the colder the faster the ice should make. ok try that. later gator.

You are probably low on freon. It would cost around $250 to get a charge and stop the leak.

sounds like your ice maker has a degraded coating on the mold that forms the cubes. if you remove it from the freezer, then you can see if the coating is coming off. if so then you need to replace the ice maker.

check if the water tube is connected and turn on ,then if thats not the problem turn of your frige of for 2days ,then put it on and will work,thats usally the main problem due to water frezzing all around the is maker and freezing it all and after that make sure to not over fill the ice but dump it ,if my info was of any help to you please leave a comment thankyou.

I have the same problem. here is what is happing in the frezzer I have to unplug it let it defrost and I take the back wall apart and the fan and all back there is frozen I put hot water on the frozen parts and then it is good for about 6 mos before I have to do it again. My Daughter has the same problem also the water tube that goes to the ice maker frezzes and untill I get the cube of ice out it will not make ice. make sure you have the drew that holds the ice all the way in.
