The disc driver LG super multi in my PC won't read any discs. I put in a disc and when I display it on the My Computer it shows blank, as if there is nothing on the disc. It does this even when I know there is data / film / music on the disc. The pop up menu asking what I want to do does not show.

Re: Disc driver not reading discs
Can be several reasons
1. Disk is upside down
2. Lens is durty. Use CD/DVD cleaning disk
3. Disk is recorded in higher speed than your driver can read (for instance reading speed is 16, but disk is recorded on 24).
4. DVD drive is damaged or not connected properly.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x right click to reinstall drivers or if you can see your usb but its not working ports(com&lpt)right click update driver just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again, sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable, check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems hope this helps
In other words it is not reading the disc inserted in it. You can get a download from the internet for a DVD driver software. At the Search engine blank, type (DVD driver software download) and at the site, choose the appropriate driver software and download it your PC. After you get the download, go back to your PC menu, and click open your downloaded driver, and get it installed. Once installed you will now see that it is already running.
I suppose that you have windows XP.
Pls follow these steps
Clean the disc - Clean the disc with a disc cleaning kit or by gently wiping the silver side of the disc from the center outward with a dry, soft, lint-free, cotton cloth. Check the disc for damage - Remove the disc from the drive, and then examine the disc for scratches or cracks.Try a different disc drive - If the computer has more than one disc drive, insert the disc in a different CD or DVD drive to see whether it can read the disc. If your computer does not have more than one disc drive, you can insert the disc in a different computer.Make sure that the disc is compatible with the drive -Check the following list to make sure that the disc that you are trying to use is compatible with your CD or DVD drive.
A DVD disc is incompatible with a standard CD drive.
A CD-RW disc is incompatible with a CD drive that does not support CD-RW discs.
A DVD disc is incompatible with a drive that does not have a DVD logo on the front.
Use Windows Update to check for updated drivers - If the disc is compatible with your CD or DVD drive, check for updated drivers that the CD or DVD drive may be missing. To check for driver updates that you can install, visit the following Microsoft Web site:http://windowsupdate.microsoft.comRegards
