-   We have this coffee maker, which is plumbed to water. How in the world do we clean it out? I soak everything else in automatic dishwasher soap. I know that running white vinegar through other coffee machines works, but I can't figure out how to do this when it's plumbed directly to a water pipe.-   Vanette

-   I have an Isomac that has been working perfectly with Illy preground espresso coffee (sold in a can as fine grind). I just bought some beans and had them ground at espresso level and another a little finer. they looked identical to the Illy preground product. Both of them don't brew out - the machine goes to about 14 bars and after a half a minute a few drips come out.-   DonGr

The instruction manual that came with the pot will tell you to use one cup (measuring cup) of "white vinegar" and fill the rest of the reservoir with regular water. Turn it on and let it perk the mixture through the system. Then perk a couple of pots of plain water to flush out the rest of the vinegar.
The books say to do this once a month to keep things clean and the coffee tasting great.

Generally we use a diluted version of CLR, or a Italian product that is called Puly. The Puly (weither it is in tablet or powder form) should be pre-dissolved in WARM water, prior to adding it to your machine. Most hardware stores, or Wal-Mart have coffee machine cleaners on their shelves. No matter what you use, thoroughly rinse the machine before reuse. All customers that have used vinegar have not been particularly happy, as the vinegar doesnt seem to have enough "oomph" to really dissolve mineral build-up.

- I have been repairing automatic coffee makers for over 10 years, and Im Gaggia certified master tech. A professional machine that is plumbed into a water supply must be thoroughly dissassembled, and each part soaked in acid, and manually cleaned. Unless your water is exceptionally hard (you should have a water softener inline with the machine in hard water areas) this should only need tyo be done every 5n years or so. Heads and screens and filters should be soaked every day in a cleaning solution available from any professional machine supplier. A machine that is not plumbed should have a small amount of Puly brand cleaner added to its tank, and run through several cycles every 3 months. Puly is available thru machine suppliers, but therte are also several other brands that do the same. Visit your local coffee machine shop for a good cleaner.

I have been in the coffee machine repair buissness for over 10 years. DO NOT use vinegar to clean your machine. You will distort the taste of the coffee, the vinegar sticks to the heaters. Have your unit cleaned by a profesional. If you paid under 100 dollars dont even bother it is a throw away model.

I do alot of machine descaling with a product called OAB discaller... It is a Citric acid powder and is most effective when added to warm or hot water and left to work while the machine heat cycles....Been using the Citric Acid for 10 yrs myself and for the average machine this will remove all lime(scale build up.....safe effective. Make sure you rinse all soaked parts and replace gaskets, seals if they show any signs of wear......

What do I use to clean the inside of the Thermos?
Have tried baking soda and letting it soak several times.
It is approximately 2 years old and it makes the best coffee.
